Nice, nice. Is that the Herman Miller Wanes chair?
hey bud, thanks for the kind words... i don't kno if it is unfortunately as i looked all over and there is no company name on it lol, it was expensive tho... my designer recommended it

as for the VOSS water comment, i'm a photographer and did a commercial product shoot for VOSS so i got a big crate of the stuff as a gift after the shoot wrap party. it's not bad at all, not sure why people snark on it... cool bottle too, all glass and all, very Mac'ish lol

One of these very elegant little devices:

Bontrager Duotrap cadence/speed sensor. Fitted it tonight to my Trek Madone 4.5. :) It replaces the ugly cable-tied Garmin unit.

I don't know what the LBS was talking about, the unit wasn't difficult to fit - only getting the pedal off was difficult. Damn was that thing tight! Took serious muscle power to get it unbolted.

Hey, no prob! :) And yea, it seems these chairs are popping up almost everywhere I look. I like the design a lot and I wouldn't personally really mind grabbing the real thing myself. It's just if a quality repro for a better price is out there, I'd jump on it.

The pedal was tight because every time you right you bike it tightens more. Duotrap is awesome though. I wish more manufacturers would build stuff in like that.

Yeah, that's part of the reason I went with Trek, even though I liked Specialized.

Duotrap is so neat and tidy, with no bits cable tied on that could fall off. Next thing is a rare earth magnet for the crank to replace the ugly cadence magnet, and then maybe one of those 3T stems with the integrated Garmin 800 mount.

It was worth missing my ride tonight. ;)

Great book so far.. i'm only about halfway through it. If it were winter, I would be done with it, but I usually stick to light reading in the summer.

Larson's Devil in the White City looks pretty interesting as well..

Well, winter is coming. ;)

You're reading the book because you were attracted to the swastikas, right?;):p

I ordered this Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS II Telephoto Zoom Lens for my T3i last night while Amazon dropped the price to $149 to price match B&H (it's since been raised to $199). Found out via slickdeals. Yes, not the greatest lens in the world, but the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. I couldn't pass up a deal like that, especially considering I don't have anything that reaches past 55mm and I don't feel like dropping $500+ for a better lens right now. I still consider myself a beginner, and I don't need the most expensive or best just yet.

Galaxy Nexus – got a great deal for a brand new phone and after 4 years with a iPhone 3G, I treated myself to an awesome phone on Tuesday.

My mini–review on it after a few days with it:

Overall UI:
I love the blue holo theme in Jellybean; many of the stock apps are better than iOS e.g. YouTube, Gmail, Maps, camera software, etc.…(not flaming iOS though, I just prefer Android).

Apps:
Many iOS apps that I had are on here like pocket, instapaper, temple run :D, Skype, drop box, etc..

Hardware:
I like the nice big 720p screen and the look of the phone; I don’t mind the size of the phone either.

I am really happy with this purchase and easily think this is one of my best tech purchases like my MBA

One of my favorite things about this forum is how I can learn bits of slang from the UK and other places. In the US, we'd say "spending spree", but I thing "spend up" sounds better.

Cheers!

I have M-Audio AV40s, and Im really thinking about getting those B&W MM1s. Anyone have an opinion on the two, and would I hear THAT much of a difference between the two?

I have actually never heard the phrase "spend-up!" "Spending-spree" is a lot more common here, too.

Haha, I actually hadn't seen the cover until a couple weeks ago. I had no idea that book was so popular when I started reading it.

I like books about Nazis and I love biographies, so I thought this book would make a cool combination and it hasn't disappointed yet.

New iPad (16GB) Black

Currently, my state has tax free holiday going on and even though I have a MacBook, iMac and iPhone...I bit the bullet and bought myself a 16GB new iPad.

I am certain that I do not need it but my birthday is on August 26th and I just got a raise at work so I figured why not?!

  • Tiffany Blue TPU Bumper
  • Lucky Labs Teksure Skin (Parudao Wood - Back Only)

The bumper is a shiny plastic with cutouts for all buttons; it fits perfectly. I also love the back skin. It has a texture for grip, installed easily, and looks great.

I'm not 100% sure of the color combination but I have a white bumper from the same company on order for next week. I'll post pics when I get it.

Dude that is awesome. Congrats! We were between a vita and a 3ds xl for the house. Brother pre-ordered a 3ds xl for me for my birthday a month ago though. Got a few more weeks.

Starfox is definitely on the list of games to get.

BTW I love the look of the zelda 3ds. I am sure they will release one for the 3ds xl but I am impatient. Have been waiting for a larger screen for the 3ds for a while.

Thanks! I'm loving the Vita; the hardware just has a very premium feel - very Apple-esque, or even "Old-School Sony". Everything just feels great, works great, and looks great. And, as ugly as it looks in screens, the OS is very robust and makes a lot of sense. Gravity Rush is an absolute blast; one of those "hidden gems" I'm always looking for when I buy games. It's pulled me in like few other titles have this year.

All that said, outside of this honeymoon phase I think I'm having, I'd have to say the 3DS is the better system as Nintendo actually knows how to support their handheld. There's already a ton of must-play titles on the 3DS, and several more releasing this year. I'm CERTAIN you'll love your XL. :) Make certain you grab Mario 3D and Kid Icarus!

Sony RX100

Awesome point & shoot you've got there. The reviews have been amazing. Enjoy!

Damn, dude. Your setup always looks amazing. Cool room you've got!

Picked up a couple of straps from gordy. Dark brown and Russet will be on it's way.

Gah, peapody! ... You just have to make the OM-D even more appealing, don't ya?!

***

I *FINALLY* pulled the trigger on an iPad. When it was announced, everyone called it a giant iPod Touch and made fun of me for wanting one. Over the years, I thought it was awesome but couldn't justify it... while I watched everyone else eat their hat and buy one. It's been killing me! ;p But now with a very hectic work schedule and lots of travel, I was excited to pull the trigger during this tax-free weekend! Also snagged a green Smart Case (which doesn't seem to have any wiggle like I feared from reviews), and of course, then I felt obligated to pick up a matching bumper for my 4S. They're looking great together. The iPad is just a plain-jane 16GB Wi-Fi model; but until I know otherwise, I didn't know what options to splurge on. So this might be a "test" for the time being.

.... and I also picked up Kingdom Hearts for 3DS and a free $10 GC.
