I decided to buy a 3DS XL to entertain me while my wife watches all of those silly singing competition shows that will be starting soon. And Glee. And that F'N Kardashian show. God damn it all :p;)

I actually bought it at Best Buy because they had the best deals I could find. I'm shocked....usually Best Buy is the place to see and try things, not buy them. :p

The hard case came free with the purchase of the 3DS XL, and they had a deal for games: buy two, get one free. I saved around $60. Good stuffs.....

You and I must be related.

If I see one more episode of House Hunters, My First Property, Basketball Wives, or Honey Boo-Boo I will put a gun to my forehead.

The only thing I agree to watch is "Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives."

I've used it some today. They did seem to have rearranged a lot of things and the feel is different compared to the D700. I'm getting used to it. With longer lenses I do use a battery grip to help with the balance and gripping. Otherwise the camera feels excellent by itself.

I am very happy with it. I especially like the ability to save the video and JPEGs to the SD card whilst recording RAW to the CF card. Performance and image quality is definitely an improvement.

Yeah, and the AF-S, AF-C, M switch will drive you nuts at first until you get used to it. And a few other things like the AF options will seem different as they are now controlled differently.

Watch out for Moire patterns in fine materials like car interior roof-headlining (fabric with fine detail). Normal photography shouldn't present too many problems for that.

In practice, I think you'll discover the camera is quite sufficiently fast for most use, even event photography. Use fastest memory cards with it, and no less than 32gb if you intend to use RAW.

Try it with a 300mm F/4.0 ED Nikkor if you want to be shocked at how outrageously sharp the images can be! :)

The whole AF switch business is a bit annoying. I don't know why they changed it seeing it was working fine before. They also switched the zoom in and out buttons for playback; that will take some time to get used to.

I'm not too worried about moiré and false color. I picked the D800E because I'm mainly using it for travel and landscape photography.

And I have discovered that even 32GB CF cards are a bit small now. 400 pictures in RAW? Looks like I need those 128GB cards. I guess it's time to blow even more money!

I don't mind House Hunters. I always think it's funny when someone makes it seem like the color of paint in a room is a dealbreaker.... as if it's difficult/expensive to repaint it.:p

She doesn't watch those other ones you listed. We do like DDD though.....but it always makes me so hungry.

So....to compliment my 3DSXL purchase, I ordered a set of Incase Sonics from moofi.woot. Great deal for $49. I really wanted a comfy pair of headphones.

Been having eyestrain issues after moving to a new job in a new office. Hope these will help some. Wish I had known about the Woot sale earlier, though. All of the styles I really wanted sold out already.
