The U3011 is a fantastic monitor, I have one on my Mac Pro,using it mainly for lightroom and photoshop work, I upgraded from a 2209wa to the u3011, it's the best move I made, after calibration it's fantastic.
My first Dell monitor was a 2001FP. That's when I started learning about the difference between TN, VA, IPS, all the different tech. It was then I was hooked on Dell displays. Since that I've owned the 2005FPW, 2007FPW, 2407FPW, 3007WFP, 3007WFP-HC, and I currently have a Dell 3008WFP.
I got a scratch on 3008WFP a year ago and it's been bothering me since. I doesn't really affect much in use, but smack in the middle, so I see it every day.
My friend bought a Dell U3011 a few months ago after convinced him not to get the U2711 (16:9 vs 16:10); he's been quite happy about it; last night I had a hardware issue (turned out it was my DisplayPort cable) which got me calling Dell about a replacement. Even after finding out my monitor was fine and it was just a cable, I decided what the heck, go for it.
I almost was about check out on Dell.com with a 5 year warranty ($1499), but in the end while looking for potential coupons, I found Amazon was selling it for $1150 with Saturday shipping and no tax. Even though it's only a 3 year warranty on Amazon, I saved $250 which I think is a very good deal.
Right now I'm debating if I should just use the stand on the U3011 or mount it on my Ergotron.
