Because of HDD space. I have the rMBP and I don't want to waste HDD space on Windows 8. Besides, my old PC is actually still pretty decent. I don't mind running two machines, I have my own cloud storage on my network to share things back and forth if needed.

I understand. Also, it's not a big deal, but it bothers me that you referred to it as HDD space when referring to your rMBP, which doesn't have an HDD.

Nikon D3200 SLR with 18-55mm VR Kit lens. I was going to get the 2 lens bundle but found out neither had VR (Vibration reduction) so figured it was not as good a deal as it seamed. I can always add another lens at a later date if I need to.
Should point out picture was taken with iPhone!

Nice buy!

I have a larger 18-200mm and sometimes I wish I had the smaller lighter 18-55mm.

Received my incase case for my iPod. Was a nice price on amazon, and turned out thinner than I thought. Sometimes these clear cases can be really thick, but not this one.

Funny it was a 70-200mm lens I was looking at getting along with the 18-55. However this is my first SLR so I'll just use this lens while I learn about photography. Do you have the D3200 as well?

I have a D5100. Have fun with it! Some great cheap prime lenses should be on your future purchase list ;) I am more of a landscape/architecture person, so I am saving up for a wide angle.

I like the flip out LCD on the 5100. Should be good for interesting angles. Where I work they supply lenses to some big clients. When the contract is up they sell them of to the staff. I think the next one is around the end of the year so I'll see what's on offer and at what price.
In the meantime I have a lot to learn.

New Gibson added to the collection...Never played, all the plastic protection was still in place..The guy took it to my guitar guru and bought a very different guitar as a replacement...None of us could figure, but I checked it out on the Gibson site and it had never been registered, so I got a brand new SG at one third retail!:)

The guy bought an Epihone semi-acoustic....Seems his GF bought the SG.

Upgrading (slightly...) from a D7000. Got it at a great price (AAFES/Military) at $1099...I just couldn't resist. My 7000 was great but my only complaint was some not so great focusing (AF) and that has been addressed with the 7100, thus the upgrade.

Also picked up 2 of these to go along with it...

And boy does she punch!! I can't figure the guy buying the Epiphone though...You'd have though that is GF would have done a little research....A guiatr isn't really something you can buy as a gift without the recipient being present...I think that's what happened....I remeber that Epiphone...nice, and vintage, but as a comparison? I can't see it. Still. I'm happy:D

That's awesome!
I settled on the D5100 for that screen, as I planned to use the camera for a lot of video too.

Got this for myself as a birthday gift. Would not buy this normally otherwise, as Billingham bags are $$$. Luckily, it was at a discount since I got it off eBay. I have a timbuk2 snoop that is larger and a little too casual, so this smaller bag will complement it nicely.

You were looking at a deal with the 70-200mm lens with this camera? Are you sure it wasn't the 55-200? That's generally the package deal that comes with the lower end Nikons.

To the best of my knowledge, there are two 70-200's (f/4 and f/2.8) both of which cost well over 3 times what the camera costs. I could be wrong, because I haven't looked over Nikon's inventory of lenses in some time.

Anyway, if you meant the 55-200, you can probably find it on Craigslist somewhere for about $100 if you ever decide you want it.

I've shot with the lens handheld on a D3000 before and the lack of VR didn't really affect the photos. I only used it once, though.

It's slow, but if you're using the 18-55mm kit lens, you probably won't notice too much of a difference and sometimes it's nice to have that extra zoom. Also, the lens isn't really that heavy.
