Because I needed a spare, and an extra meter.
I agree on the hid front. There are soooooooo many $30,000 millionaires driving around Honolulu in poverty spec bmws, Audis, and mercedes. They all think they look good with their non sort suspension, wheezy base engine, and teeny tiny little wheels.
You don't need the top end amg, or m model, but if you can't afford the mid range with sport, and lighting packages, then you can't afford it.
WTF is a meter?!
Signed, the average American.
Metric is WAY better than imperial!

It came in a box of Cracker Jacks. A very expensive box of Cracker Jacks!
Mood ring...ppffftttt!
Could you possibly be suggesting that I am a pathetic, out of control, badly demented sucker for insanely expensive espresso making chachkas?
OK...maybe just a little...
I think a majority of buyers/leasers stay with halogens. Look at lease returns/CPOs and they pretty much all halogens. And I did. It wasn't because of money. I did it for preventive maintenance because I didn't want to deal with AHL. And anyone who owns a car with one knows what I'm talking. I switched out to LUX Eyes and Philips HID kit and I'm happy with it. I agree that higher end models like the E-Class should have it as standard. But then again why not go LED?
Some Nespresso stuff, expensive /:
How much?! If you don't mind

the awesomeness of xenons every night and how much better they make the car look even when off more than outweighs the price of possibly having one dead xenon every ten or so years IMO. especially if youre just gonna swap out the halogens for a cheesy aftermarket set anyway.
I think most people have halogens because they dont bother even doing basic research and just buy whatever they see on the lot. not saying thats always the case (or in this case), but face it most people just buy off the lot rather than special ordering and if the dealer orders nothing but black bmws with halogens, all you will see on the road is black bmws with halogens. pretty lame when a lot of $20k cars come with them standard, theyve been around close to 20 years now.
It's not dead bulbs I'm worried about. It's the multitude of possible issues that arise from having adaptive headlights. Multiple motors going bad, worrying about potholes, auto leveling, sensors, control arm etc. A lot of things can go wrong. Hit a pothole and one might be pointing down and the other up. Now if you're under warranty might not be a huge issue aside from not having your car for a few days. Or the dealership might not want to warranty the car and just blame you. Out of warranty and it can cost a couple of grand to fix including labor. That can lead to a big headache down the line.

I think it will be a good addition to my home network and I get to play with VPN without using OpenVPN.
