Glad to know there are other absinthists here. If you haven't already tried it, give Marteau a run. I consider it one of the best out there today, especially for purists that want vertes with grape spirit base rather than grain.

I can't claim to be an absintheur yet as my first bottle has not yet arrived! Looks like I will get it at the end of the month as it is hung up right now in Czech customs.

As I wanted to get absinthe with the highest legal thujone content, I ordered through a UK site, so it's 60% alcohol by volume, and 35mg/L thujone. Is the Marteau US legal (and therefore limited to <10mg/l thujone), or is it a European brand?

Do you have a link for the Marteau?

Enjoy your new lens. I'm sure this will be a lot lighter than your usual walk around lens. Make sure you post some shots over in the POTD thread!

Ha Ha you obviously havent felt the weight of L lenses with IS, the 24-105 is no exception, its not the heaviest, but it's a good chunk of Glass and plastic and metal, I sold mine because it wasnt used, And now i'm not lugging it around in by backpack all day :) I much prefer my 16-35 anyday, much sharper and more versatile as a walkaround lens.

Ooooooooh. Fascinating.

Memo to self: I will not succumb to temptation, no, I will not succumb. (At least, not yet)……...

Unfortunately, I seem to have a slight weakness for dialogues of the sort where you, um, acquire information on endlessly fascinating topics.

Bonavita Electric Gooseneck Variable Temperature Kettle (bought it from Amazon though as this site was out-of-stock).

Noooo. You didn't, did you? Yes, you did. Of course, you did.

Just received my order and wanted to report back. The switcher I bought only has 3 input ports, 1 output port. That being said, I hooked up my PS4* and Xbox One to the switcher, and then the switcher to the Elgato, Elgato to the TV. It works GREAT! For some reason the switcher has a port for a DC power adaptor, but it doesn't need it. It draws power from the HDMI cables. I can even have both consoles and the Elgato program up and running, and switching between them works seamlessly.

Only downfall I can see with this setup is that I also have optical audio hooked up with 1 headset, but I have 2 consoles. So that part sucks and will require me to switch back and forth manually by plugging and unplugging optical cables. Also, the LED light on the switcher is roughly as bright as the fricken sun, lol.

Here is the link to the switcher I bought:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B46XUQU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

*Please note, between my PS4 and the switcher is my Monoprice DVI-to-HDMI splitter. This allows me to bypass the HDCP so the Elgato will work with the PS4.

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and got the 4 input Porta HDMI Switcher. Hooked up My Xbox1, PS4, WiiU and Xbox360. Definitely like the feature that it automatically detects which system is on and displays it's video. So far I tested the Xbox1, WiiU and Xbox360 and they work perfectly. I wasn't able to test the PS4 as ironically I didn't have a spare power port in my surge protector left.

One thing I don't like is that you need the USB cable to power up the El Gato device. Whenever I don't want to stream/record I'm going to have to remove it or have my computer on. I wanted to setup everything and leave it without the hassle of connecting the GATO device everytime I wanted to stream. Oh well, it's still definitely better though. Thanks again.

Galaxy Tab 3 7.0

Not really purchased, in fact I buy it form a work colleague that won it, get it at 50% of the price. Excellent gift for my son that try to borrow the ipad every 5 mins. He will now have its own tablets. i found on android forum a dedicated rom based on the Tab 3 kids that allow to put some parental control as well as some time keepers.

Finally Android has some arguments :)

Practically all commercially produced absinthes are legal in the US now, and if not they generally don't bother about it anyway. And don't bother about the thujone level it's just a marketing gimmick, like megapixels or 240Hz refresh rates on HDTVs. It's a GABA-receptor antagonist. In the low doses that you'll find in absinthe today, it will have little to no effect on your experience with it. Nor is that limitation modern, as one bottle of 1898 Pernod Fils that I received for a birthday was measured at a mere 3.5mg/l. And that drop was liquid sex, I tell you. Like drinking herbally-infused velvet. It's best to stay away from pre-bans, because you won't be totally satisfied with anything else afterwards, and it's murder on the wallet.

If you're looking forward to experiencing the "green fairy", I fear you're going to be let down. I've been consuming absinthe for a fair few years, and have never had anything remotely resembling an hallucinogenic experience from it. I will say that it is one of the most pleasant buzzes I've ever experienced; for me, there is a passing recognition of intoxication, but nonetheless accompanied by a profound sense of clearheadedness. Some of my best work, from art to coding, has taken place while under its effects.

Do you have a link for the Marteau?

Of course: Absinthe Marteau

Marteau is not only legal in the US, it's made there by Gwydion Stone

Filemaker Pro 13. I'm still playing with this to get it to do what I want, but it looks promising. Previously I was using html forms to input data, but I just wasn't happy with that system.
