I've always liked Toyotas but never had one. Really enjoying the new ride since yesterday haha.

Thats a sweet looking ride. Excuse my ignorance looks like you are in Germany, I never heard of that brand before but it looks very nice!
The company has been making vehicles for more than 100 years...

Thanks, it really is nice. As somebody pointed out they have been around a long time in europe (czech republic) but they dont export to the US, hence your „ignorance“ totally ok. They belong to VW and do share a lot of parts or even whole wheelbases, you pay (a little) less for brand name and their design is more to my liking.

As @Dowjohnny has already said, Skoda are an old and very well respected car brand.

In the 1920s and 1930s (prior to being sacrificed to Hitler's ambitions and bottomless appetite) what was then Czechoslovakia was both a functioning democracy and an advanced and affluent (it ranked in the top ten in the world) country, society and economy which exported well regarded products (Bata shoes, Skoda cars, etc) to the world.

Moreover, prior to independence which occurred post WW1, what became Czechoslovakia had been the industrial heartland of the (pretty well advanced) Habsburg empire.

The problem for Skoda was what had occurred after 1945 (1948, to be very precise), and the fact that advances in the automative world were quite rare under communist rule.

However, since 1989, Skoda has once again emerged as an excellent - well regarded, well respected - car manufacturer.

Had it a few days now and it's a fabulous car

Bought some Autoglym UHD shampoo, Rapid detailer and a clay mitt today to give it a good clean tomorrow.
Was about to say, it needs a good ext/int detail. A polish with a coating too if you feel like splurging. Would look more majestic especially with summer approaching 👌

By coincidence I actually washed and polished it this morning using Autoglym UHD shampoo, then a clay mitt with Autoglym Rapid Detailer, then Autoglym SRP by hand, followed by FinishKare wax

you are not affiliated with autoglym are you? :D

Also: Sweet ride though i couldn‘t help to notice a severe manufacturing error: steering wheel is on the wrong side ;) just kidding, gotta love a BMW, always liked the 7 from that era 👍🏻

Turns out the retailer got my prescription wrong in order to upsell me lenses i didn't need. I've had constant headaches as a result.
So i've cut my losses and cancelled the order. I'm also done with Luxottica brands/stores in general having done my own research.

Opted for these instead. Pricier, but lenses are included for free. Hopefully second time lucky 🤞

Once you've found a good opticians, stick with them. I've used a few over the years, one major national UK High Street chain sold me frames that turned out were too small for me. Another tried selling me expensive contact lenses that gave me blurred vision. Eventually I found a good one that supplied me with the correct frames, lenses and also contacts that give me great vision, and I'm sticking with them.

Thats an awesome and quick history snapshot on the brand, thank you!
