There is no possible universe containing so many uncluttered, symmetrical, and dust-free set-ups. o_O Somebody is messing with the matrix, dudes.
Ha ha, I was thinking of the same thing. You should see the clutter of cables and stuff on my desk. Probably much more representative.

Very nice. Clean looking - I like! Is that the 23.7 ultrafine display? If so: What are your thoughts on adding a eGPU later on?

Thanks. Yes it's the new 23.7 UF. Right now for my usage I haven't found myself wanting extra GPU grunt. Lightroom runs well on the Mac mini and photoshop was fine. There is occasionally a micro stutter when you have a ton of full screen apps and you try and summon iTunes. Nothing bothersome.

I think if at some point we get Navi GPUs with USB-C output I may get an eGPU to play some games. Otherwise there aren't a lot of options for powering this monitor with an eGPU since it's TB3 which means either the Blackmagic eGPUs which are hideously bad value, or bootcamp and an RTX GPU as they have USB-C output (not tested or confirmed).

Nice job with the colors, or should I say lack of color and the visual simplicity. The lack of clutter, and shades of grey focuses you on the monitor and is overall visually calming. :D
You're gonna hate my new set then...Hehe I will say that I need a "Pro" USB C to Lightning cable. That white cable is a eyesore!

It looks good to me! I'm only likely to point out where you used "your" instead of "you're" :p

I know what you mean about cable colors though - I'm guilty of having ordering a replacement cable in a different color just for the color change.

Thanks, calming is exactly what I go for. Clutter and busyness don’t work for me

How have you got your eGPU that far from the Mac mini? Using an active TB3 cable? The passive ones are all super short, by design of course.

Spaceman: Grammar corrected ;)

LiE_: The cable from the Mini is the one supplied with the LG monitor purchased at the Apple store. No idea if it is active or passive. It works = score :)

Ah that’s a passive cable so will be running at half the speed of the smaller passive cables. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was choking your eGPU speed.

Those over 90cm need to be active to support the full 40Gbps.

Setup has changed a bit over the last year. Also have a wider lens now so can see the entire desk 😆

Just need to balance things on the left when I add some speakers.

Nice setup, may I ask what you're using the Blackmagic eGPU for? And are you getting much milage out of it?

Mainly for a boost in Lightroom and desktop. The iGPU in the Mac mini struggles a little with driving the Ultrafine when I have lots of windows/spaces/apps open.

Also play a few games.

Couple small additions to my setup. Sonos One gen2 and a succulent.

Beautiful setup! One of the best I've seen in this entire thread. I'm looking to upgrade my old iMac setup to a Mac Mini and am also going for a very minimalist look. I have a black desk and will be going for a black/grey/white look although I kind of wish I had a white desk now haha.

If I can make a small critique to your amazing setup.....you should find a way to conceal or hide the two wires behind your monitor. Otherwise I love it!

I'm looking forward to posting my setup once I buy my new gear in a few weeks :)

Thanks 😊

I also noticed the wires after I took the photo. I’ll have to think of a good way to channel them down the back of the monitor.

My recent set up using an early 2009 Mac Mini when I was working in Thailand, where I lived in the same apartment for 16 years.

present set up – Version 2.jpg

Now returned home to NZ, my life is somewhat itinerant as I work short term jobs while looking for a long term position. The Mac Mini is in storage, and the MacBook Air is my mainstay for the time being. I look forward to being able to base myself somewhere, preferably sooner than later, and set up the Mac Mini again, with new peripherals.......

If Apple comes up with a more affordable Mac Mini, better specced to suit my needs I would consider replacing the 2009 Mini.

Sadly, I have to disappoint you... That won't happen. At least not in the foreseable future. And I did read today on other websites, that NAND prices will rise up to 40% this year!

So the base Mac computers with 128GB SSD will be even more expensive. Not to speak of Macs with larger SSD capacity.

I think I'm going to win the honor of the most messy setup haha.
From Argentina, a configuration of Mac Mini 2018 I5 256GB 8GB.
I have it with Sentey MS-2700 2K 144HZ, Logitech K480 Philips SBCHC 8435 and Genius NX9000. Let's see how it behaves, for now it is going very well!
