That new aluminum stand looks like a huge improvement over the original stand! How is the stability, and can you rotate the screen 90 degrees?

The base is rock solid, literally, as it solid thick machined aluminum. The monitor itself will wobble somewhat if you bump it, but if your table is stable like mine then it's fine. The tilt mechanism is just OK but it works fine.

And yes it rotates. For a 32" monitor you have to raise the monitor to the top most height and then tilt it in order for the corner of the monitor to clear the table when rotating. Once rotated you can then tilt it back.

Thanks. Im going to give thermal paste a try. I got a 8g tube and hope it's enough to cover at least 80% of the bottom surface of my heatsink. Im curious to see if I will see an improvement, I would think I should. I do have thermal pads too but it wouldn't be as effective plus it would likely use up the rest I have left so I went with the paste.

But... Why? What could you possibly hope to achieve by doing this? Sounds like a giant, pointless waste of time and resources.

I've not upgraded anything really, but I have finally finished decorating my lounge so everything has had a fresh lick of paint, a nice new carpet, and I've replaced the two extension leads with one so only need one power cable trailing across the skirting board. I have added a new desk lamp which has made a huge difference. I toyed with a lightbar on top of my monitor, but didn't like that idea. It is slowly turning into a nerd corner, feels like a mini-version of my old bedroom from years gone by!

I would love to hear how you feel about that monitor with a month or two of use. I’ll be in the market next year sometime and this one is tentatively on my list…
 
Added a OWC thunderbolt 4 hub, so it gives me an extra thunderbolt port to run Mac OS on an external drive.

Got a 2TB Western digital black nvme drive in a OWC 1M2 (have two now). Best $400 ever spent. This drive has a 1200TB TBW lifespan, so now I don't get nervous when I have a 20GB swap file, like I was when using the internal 256GB drive.

Good news, the light on my new OWC 1M2 is a lot dimmer than my one that I bought last spring (which is way too bright).

I finally found a stand for the Mini that has a built in filter to prevent dust getting inside the mini. It's Spine brand, got it for $27CAD. I love the color and if it wasn't for the chasis of the mini acting as a heatsink I would totally put the top piece on. I mainly bought it for the bottom piece. So far so good, going to give it some time to make sure it is working and is worth it. Love the extended Xmas return period on amazon. Have 2 full months to try it out.
