With an M5 in the background?
Yes Sir.

It's not a Touring, that's what. :D

(Might have owned one)
They didn't make a touring model in this range. It's actually one of the thrity M Performance Editions, so hopefully you'll let me off based on that :D They are fun tho, what did you swap it for? I'm on the hunt for something different.

how do you like that logitech keyboard? thinking of buying one myself, but the round keys is an eyesore ;)

oHHHH.. THAT is a very sweet ride indeed. Color me envious. I had brought over an E34 M5 Touring stateside a while back, and still daily drive a regular E61 since BMW NA decided no more wagons for us.

I have a question. What are most people using for external storage. Given I have a number of HDDs lying around doing nothing, if I bought the Mini I would like to repurpose these drives via a USB 3.0 HDD docking station.

Anyone have any thoughts if this would be a reliable option?

That should work fine. I repurposed 2 Western Digital MyBook external Drives I had been using with my Windows system. Only caveat was I had to reformat them to read/write to them on Mac. Otherwise it was read only. So backup any data you have on those drives if there is any. In the future I was contemplating NVME to USBc enclosure with Samsung drive or similar.

Yes, i need to clean my windows :D
Quite a bit of kit you can't see from this view. Audio equipment etc, oh, and another Mac Mini.

Nice clean setup. How do you the like the Magic Keyboard with numeric pad?
I thought about getting one but I think I'd have to extend my arm too much to the right when using the trackpad/mouse.

Seeing all of these setups is making me want to pull the trigger on the Mini. . . I have a 2018 MacBook Pro that likes to (sometimes) crash when it goes to sleep with my 4k UltraFine(s) connected. . . I realize that in buying a mini I am essentially rewarding Apple for not fixing the T2 issues, and of course, the Mini might do the exact same thing since it has the T2 as well now.

My question for you mini owners. . . The only requirement(s) I really have are for the hex core i5, and minimum 256gb SSD. Would you just go for the $1099 model and upgrade the ram yourself, or should I consider the $1299 model, and just get 16gb out the gate? It doesn't look too terribly difficult to install, but of course I worry about voiding the warranty in upgrading the ram myself.

Installing the ram yourself is easy. But Yesterday I had my first T2 crash. The Mac Minis have it too. So don't get it for that reason.

Have we figured out yet whether the T2 Crashes are really all T2 related, or do all have "T2" in the crash because kernel panics are handled via the T2?

fwiw, i had none on either of my 2018s.
I did a clean install and disabled FileVault tho

first line in the error report:

{"caused_by":"macos","macos_system_state":"running","bug_type":"210","os_version":"Bridge OS 3.2 (16P2542)","timestamp":"2019-01-21 22:17:47.29

EDIT: misread your comment. good point. All crashes might be handled by the T2. In that case there is no way for me to figure out what caused it although I'm guessing it might be my Virus TI (a digital synth connected via USB)

btw You have multiple 2018s? or did you have to exchange one too?

I meant 2018 computers in general :)
I had i9 and returned it, now have a 13" i5 and Mini i7, and none of them had any kernel panics

@Ploki wheres a post of your setup? :p
It's a hot mess of temporary connections, because the music studio this setup is meant to be in is still looks like a woodshop with a pile of bricks.

There's a caldigit TS3+ under the desk that I currently have no use for. :D

So this is all temporary. :) (and i still haven't received the Black mouse and keyboard)

please dont judge. :D

I really like it, took me a couple days to get use to it, and to be honest there are other options out there for either less or the same money that may be better. Razor for example. It all depends of what type of feel you like..
