I just recently switched to Mac. I love it. I purchased Final Cut Studio 2, Adobe Design Premium. Running Neo Office, Skype, cyberduck, vlc, evernote. This machine is far better than any windows machine I have ever used. I can run FCS export to Compressor export HD files while surfing the web, working in photoshop and using DivxConverter to convert an HD file to divx for smaller file compression Plus I had a skype video conference going on. This thing is amazing. Best move I have ever made.

Sexy. Neat. I love it already.

And can't be too safe with external hard drives, huh? ;)

Everybody should do a similar format.

Thanks :) I have lost data once a long time ago. Never again will I let that happen. I'm filming HD tapless so I wanted to make sure everything was backed up and secure. Last thing I need is for a clients video to go bye bye because of HD failure. The little 500GB studio passport is for on-site filming backup. I backup to the internal HD on the Laptop and to the passport that way if one dies I won't lose the other. I'm thinking about getting another one just to be safe. Luckily I film in AVCHD so original file size is small. It's just when I uncompress them to ProRes422 that it's like a major file size difference. Thats what the 1TB drives are for :)

It's a little overkill but worth it. Maybe someday I can get a mac pro :) I went with macbook pro to have portable editing.

I can't say enough of how impressed I am with this machine. I was on a plane coming back from NYC converting some avchd files to pro res on the external 500GB studio passport using the firewire connection. With screen brightness around mid-low range setting I was able to get about 4 hours of battery life. I was in astounded. I've never seen a pc laptop able to do this.

I may not be able to play the latest games in native OSX but I am for sure that no PC laptop can outperform this.

what desk is that? And just wondering, why the G5 and Mac Pro?

The desk is from walmart, I'll be upgrading soon to a much larger L desk along with another monitor solely for the 'G5'.

The 'G5' is far faster than any ever produced by Apple, in fact once I receive the 285GTX and new processor it will be much faster, it already scores as good as a low end Mac Pro.

Downsized, got rid of the Mac Pro and switched a Dell for the new ACD, other than that, pretty standard.

My setup before disconnecting my other hard drives. When I get my next paycheck, I'm buying a new Gigabyte motherboard and installing my retail legally purchased Snow Leopard on my Hackintosh. Until then, running Windows 7.

You are one of them WoW players, huh? Good game, but it sucks the life out of you.

And btw, if I buy a gun legally, it doesn't mean its legal for me to shoot someone with it.

Since that has nothing to do with OS X, EULA's aren't legally binding, when you buy software you should be able to do whatever you like with it, except reverse engineer it etc, and installing OS X on a non Apple machine is NOT reverse engineering, in fact I installed mine right from the disk Apple sent me.

3 questions, where did u get that big black mousepad, what is that silver device underneath the macbook, and is that the apple keyboard? if so where did you find key replacements?

the key replacements im guessing came off a broken macbook as the keys for the macbooks and pros are all the same size :)
