Thanks for the input! It doesn't have to be just those 2, they are just easy to find. I've decided to return the AV30s and just order through Amazon. I know there are several speaker threads, but none are really all that helpful. I want GOOD speakers that also go along with the aluminum. Budget of ~$150.

You couldalso search for the FX6021's by Altec Lansing. They're quite good and look just awesome (in my opinion).

Current, debating if I should return the speakers for better matching ones. Maybe the H/K Sticks or Creatures.. what do you guys think?

Don't downgrade your speakers for looks. You'll be disappointed going from AV40's to Soundsticks or Creatures. None of the consumer grade "designer" speakers are as good as studio monitors, even if they're on the lower end. Keep the AV40's!

I appreciate your input, but I'm posting from Best Buy - I just returned the AV30s. Not quite 40s :) I suppose I'm just not crazy about them.. I'll keep looking online and for the mean time I'll settle for my headphones.

Suggestions welcomed!!

The Soundsticks would look quite sharp with your setup. As far as quality, I've had mine for quite a while, and I love them. I'm no audiophile, but I still have a good ear, and they sound good to me! They've also help up better than my Creature II's.

I like the Soundsticks, just not sure where I would put the sub. It's too pretty to put on the floor :D

It's between the Logitech Z-2300 and the Soundsticks II so far.. hmm.

Sweet. I want to mod it into something really cool like this but want to think of an original idea and do something that hasn't been done before.

I appreciate all the help guys (and girls). The T40 lacks bass from what I hear, but I will keep doing my research tomorrow. As of now.. still leaning towards Harman/Kardon. I knew HK was good, as well as JBL - but I didn't know they were both Harman. Very cool.

Very nice and clean. Simple. I love those desks. Too bad the closest IKEA from where I live is either 40 minutes to a ridiculously overpriced Canadian IKEA, or 8 hours to NYC and it's many IKEA stores. haha. Grrr.

Check out AudioEngiene A2 speakers. They have a small foot print but there is alot of power in those speakers, and the bass port on it works really well.

I worked at Bang & Olufsen and I have tested and listened to a lot of speakers but I went with the sound stick II's for my new mac, 1. they have a very small foot print. 2. they image better than the B&O BeoLab 4 pc speakers which they sell at apple. I would either Check out those AudioEngine's and if you like the way they sound I can see if we have any left in the warehouse and maybe give you a good deal on them. Or get the HK SS II's

I hope that helps.

(massive pic here)

I have the same speakers I think (I got the AV30) and I love them. They create extremely good quality bass + treble without any eq settings and the bass makes the user heart pound without vibrating the entire desk apart

If you want speakers similar to the M-Audio ones, I'd recommend the Swan M10. They'd match beautifully.

Thanks for the offer jord, but I ordered the Soundsticks II, well under MSRP. Thanks all for the support! I will post when I receive them.

Where should I put the sub?

I think you will be happy with the Sound Sticks they Image really nice, Don't put the Sub in top of your desk.

Subs were meant to be placed on the floor at any point in the room so the Bass extension fills the room up and when you listen to the speakers it sounds like the artist is playing right in front of you.

I put my Sub on the floor as close to the wall as I could so I can have the Sub bounce of the wall and fill the room more.
