Thanks! I was originally going to buy something from Ikea to hold all the wires closer to the desk but I found that around the house and decided to use it. Its held up by two C-clamps w/zip ties.

With my new Dell 22" monitor. Desk is homemade, although for some reason the paint just won't dry properly, might try to find some of the laminate they put on IKEA furniture.

Did you use latex paint? If so, the problem you're experiencing is called blocking. The higher the gloss of the paint the worse the blocking is. Latex paint takes a long time for it to "dry" and some say never completely drys. It helps if it can be given a lengthy drying time at a nice warm and dry room temperature before putting things on it. There are a couple of measures you can take to help prevent the stickiness, one is to dust the surface with talc powder as the talc helps keep things from sticking. The other is to apply a coat of a water based clear coating after the paint has sufficiently dried. If you use the clear coat don't use the talc first as it will prevent the clear coat from sticking to the paint. Hope some of this helps.

Below is my current setup. Wife changed my desktop background a few nights ago and put a pic of herself on it.

I have this same desk so I have a couple questions for you:

1) How do you like that additional drawer? It's an add-on that I chose not to get. Not sure if I want it.

2) Where is your Macbook in the most recent set up?

3) What are you using to carry audio from your XBOX to the Companions?

I'm never happy with the way my desk looks, the desks in the dorm are big but not really that nice. I'm into my blacks, steel, etc... all the cold business colours, lol.

After the assignments, decided to go back to the one screen set-up. I really like the monitor, the size is nice but the stand is just too big. This isn't the type of screen that sits flush against your wall.

Had to make a DIY lampshade because the lamp was just too bright. Also, made a DIY headphone stand for my Beats, its just an old wet wipes tube, which I stuck a few pins though it so that I could pin it to the notice board.

All the wires feed behind and into the wire hole in the desk. I have used cable ties for 95% of the wires, the other 5% are left hanging free because these are the ones that get moved a lot.

All my crap is here, Airport express, charger, external HD, etc. Macbook sits on top of the speakers. To the left is my old HP Photosmart 2575.

Thanks for the advice, it's a water based satin black paint for wood & metal. It dried for 2 days before putting anything on it & even now, 2 weeks after painting it's just as sticky. I might have to try the clear coat!

1) The drawer is nice. It's kind of small so I only really use it for paper and a couple small things. Although it seems simple, it was impossible to assemble & attach to the desk. I had 3 friends over trying to put it together (with the instructions) and it took us a good 30 mins!

2) It's sitting ontop of the filing cabinet on the left. I wanted to keep all the free desk space that I could so that seemed like the most logical place to keep it.

3) I'm using HDMI because it will carry audio, which goes into my monitor. From there I've got an RCA -> 3.5mm jack that goes from the speaker into the monitor. Works well, but if you're not on the HDMI input the speakers obviously don't work.

If theres anything else, just ask!

Dorm room, I assume? If so, it's much nicer than my first dorm room 19 years ago...god, I'm old... :D

Not a really a dorm room but it is my room in the house so its essentially a dorm room.

Just wondering, whats the Power Mac G3 do or is it just for decoration/nightstand use?

Its a bed side table. I bought it off eBay for $10 AUD and emptied all the guts out so i could use it as a table. Its sweet cause it opens from the side so you can put stuff in there. Also locks up. Cheaper then a table from Ikea as well.

(so if anyone is looking for spare parts for their G3 i could help)
