I thought about cleaning up first... but then it isn't "real"

I saw someone post this somewhere in the Picture Gallery forum:

AIAIAI-A-Stand.jpg

So, I decided to make one for my area:

I think you have done an excellent work, and the Aiaiai Stan it's very expensive,

This Artwizz AluStand is cheaper than the other one and with this one we have a place to store the keyboard.

Updated setup... I rearranged my monitor and put my speakers on my desk... Been saving up for a year to get it to where it is (I'm 15)...

It's an HP Wireless Elite. I got mine off of eBay. I'm not sure if they sell them separately from HP computers. I know they come with those TouchSmart PCs. Just about the best keyboard I've ever used; even better than the old Apple wireless ones. It's extremely thin, small profile, the batteries last about a year, but most importantly, it has ZERO lag, just like Bluetooth keyboards, despite using a proprietary dongle. It's everything you'd want in a stylish wired keyboard, but wireless.

And yep, it's a Dell 2209WA.

not all of us have mommy and daddy to buy us 30" ACDs

You were able to purchase a Mac Pro & MacBook Pro so I don't really think money is the issue here.

I agree with the others. A nice setup like yours should not be let down by some old Displays.

If he's happy with his displays, what's forcing him to switch?

My father's got a fairly mid-high-end PC (quad core, 8GB RAM, 1TB HD, etc) and is a programmer. His sole display is a 7-year-old, 19", 4:3 Viewsonic display that he's perfectly happy with. I'm a more casual user with an older MacBook Pro (2007) and a 28" monitor, and I'm perfectly happy with that as well. To each their own, really.

In fact, it might be better to have two smaller displays than one larger one. On my old PC I used to have a 19" and a 15", and even now I sort of miss the second display. I'm just not willing to shell out for a USB->DVI adapter to power the second display.

So I pulled an extra old monitor out of my closet and decided I should use what I have :)

The iMac is only using it's display. The desktop I have is hooked up to the other two monitors. When using the desktop keyboard and mouse I can mouse over to my iMac as if it was all one computer. I can even use my macro keys on the Mac that way. :D When I bring out my EeePC I can set that on the desk with the screen just below the iMac and mouse down to control that one too.

I'm pretty excited. Haha.

Nice desk, can you please post where you got it from?
Thanks.

Actually, it's just the Jonas desk from IKEA, the one with the pull-out extension. When my friends were assembling it they sort of... messed up... and so I improvised. I turned the extension on its end, then stuck some books (old highschool yearbooks) underneath it so it could rest on the main desk area. Not the prettiest thing, but it works. =]

What's powering the display?

My homebuilt PC. Just an E8400 with a GeForce GTX275. With an SSD, it's faster than any Mac I've owned, since I'm not about to drop a pretty dollar on a Mac Pro or i7 iMac.

A MacBook Pro is either 15" or 17" and you have a secondary 28". How come you miss your old 19" and 15"? The two 15" cancel each other out and the 28 is like massive compared to a tiny 19".

He might use the notebook closed?

Yeah, I keep it closed. It's too far back on my desk for the MBP's display to be of any use. I would move it forward, but then I lose loads of desk space, need to move stuff to get cables to reach, etc.

Thank God for Spaces :D

Amen, I use Spaces all the time on my Macbook Pro when I'm away from home.

I'm guessing it's something like

http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/

that he's using.

Exactly. :)

But for the Mac SynergyKM is better. It's all done through a Pref Pane rather than command line. For Windows you can just use Synergy because it has a GUI. On Ubuntu I use Quick Synergy. All the same thing though, just different branches.
