Unfortunately because there is no standard for measuring contrast ratio, manufacturers can say pretty much whatever they want these days![]()

I've seen 6 bit TN LCDs that were advertised as having some kind of ridiculous contrast ratio like that.
How can an LCD have a higher contrast ratio than the number of colors it can display? That's about the point when my ************* meter kicks in.
Seriously though, there should be a law against 6 bit panels being 1500nits brightness with a 6000:1 contrast ratio. *shudder*
