Working on a new setup. So far just got the desk and the griffin elevator stand for the macbook. Got the monitor and new speakers coming sometime this week. Then a little after that a stand for the iPad.

Old setup.

Cynical much? It's an extremely comfy chair and great for reducing back problems - I can see why people (including myself) would want such a chair. It's like spending money on .... beds. You can technically get by with a mat on the floor but would that really be what you want? :p

I wouldn't really call it cynical, Seating and lighting should always come before the desk, as those two things will alleviate the most strain on your body; I sit in an Aeron chair all day long.

After a couple days my opinion on the Embody is that if you have the extra cash or can get it through work then definitely go for it. It's very comfortable, super adjustable without feeling flimsy, and pretty cool to look at  The only negatives I could find are that it's a bit heavy and therefor not the easiest to move around through my carpet flooring, and did I mention that it probably costs as much as your computer?

It comes fully assembled when delivered. I'll update the pics when I get my imac. Will answer any questions if you have them.

Are you able to compare it to the Aeron?

I sat in the Aeron for about 5 minutes in the store. It's a great chair. Unfortunately it was the large version which was a bit on the big side for me and was a tiny bit uncomfortable. Wasn't crazy about the mesh (?), but I think that has to do with personal preference. A friend of mine is very happy with his. One of the great things about the Embody is that the seat portion of the chair can be extended in or out to accommodate different leg lengths. I also thought the embody felt sturdier with a better build quality. It's crazy how smooth and secure it feels when reclining and adjusting. However, it's difficult to recline fully in both chairs for long periods of time because of the lack of a head rest...but that's not what they were made for. Finally, the "joints" of the Embody allow for fuller back movement and more comfort.

I'm not sure why the pics weren't showing up. When you guys were quoting me I could see them. Here they are again as attachments. The old set up is the pic with the glass desk. Even the new setup will be old soon. Monitors out for delivery, unfortunately the mini display port to DVI won't be here to later this week.

Thanks for the great write-up.

When you say that the Aeron's large version was too big, are you referring to the seat area? I've tried some Aerons, and indeed the seat was too big, meaning that the seat was longer than the length from my butt down to the knees. Can't the Aeron's seat or back be pulled/pushed in?

I think I'm going to save up for the Embody. Herman Miller has a nation-wide sale twice a year, and I think the next one is coming in June.

I am going to try out an Aeron at work. It is supposed to be in on Thursday. I had them order the big size, but I am 6'4, so I need the extra room. They had medium here, which I tried and it felt too small.

For home, I still prefer the large sized IMG chair that reclines like a lazy boy and has the adjustable head rest. I listen to headphones quite a bit, so it just works better than a "task chair". It is leather, so it could get hot to use all day for work, but I like it for home.

Not sure if I ever posted a pic, but here are some (you can see I had Senns in the first pic, but I moved them to the living room when I got the AKGs):

possibly the worst quality picture on here by a country mile but hey ho this is my setup for a month downstairs until I go back to Uni. 22 inch LG monitor looks really good with the Cablesson MDP lead. Then sometimes I plug it into the 42 LCD LG TV upstairs when watching new shows. P.S. the dell keyboard is for the pc next to it, nothing to do with me haha

Updated Setup

I was able to finally purchase the new 27" iMac a couple of months ago. I also just received the new Lunatik watch band for the new generation Nano. It's a little pricey, but it's a really nice look.

27" iMac
iPad (version 1)
13" Macbook
iPhone 4
Nano w/ Lunatik watch band
M Audio Fast Track recording interface
M Audio iControl

Just setup the monitor. I'll do some cable control after my speakers get here. My girlfriend took the iPad.
