$600. Seemed to be the going price for these on CL.
I didn't mind spending the money to get the black MB because of the firewire and the removable battery. I thought the top case was all scratched up when I saw it but bought it anyways. When I got it home, I cleaned it up and found the shape to be nearly perfect. They just collect fingerprints and smudges too easy and some can look like scratches.

about to upgrade to maxed out 27" (almost end of financial year and better to spend the money than give to the taxman

Yeah, $600 seems about right, I believe the lowest I've seen in my area for a good-condition one is $500 (and I constantly monitor MacBooks, iMacs, and Mac Pros), but that was a rare occurrence.

Pretty cool setup but it seems uncomfortable to do anything else with it besides watching movies/listening to music.

Why is the case of the tower ripped open ? Although messy, it looks very productive and clean in design!
Exposing the components give it that tech look. Well, at least that's why brother has his looking like this in his room.
Miss that powerbook. There is nothing like the 12" even with the macbook air 11". I think it's that keyboard!
Also gives better airflow, unless you've got one of those cases that carefully routes the air *just so*.
