Hey man, I see you got a Silverstone Ft03 on the end your desk, very nice! I have a couple of questions for you, if you don't mind...

I was wondering how it looks next to the cinema display. I see the picture, but I was just wondering how it looks in real life. I plan on getting the 24 ACD and building my hackintosh inside of the silverstone ft03 and I would really like to know this!

Have you seen the silver one in person? I am contemplating getting that, not too sure yet. I am also wondering the noise level of the case. Hope the case is as nice as it seems considering I have to pay $160 for the case, then I have to get the short PSU cables, and the slim slot-loading drive, etc. Thank you!

Is it connected to your ACD and your Mac Pro connected to the older ACD?

EDIT: Shortly after posting this I saw your post on Bit-Tech, very nice build!

I am also wondering what kind of temps you are getting and if you are using the stock fans. My first computer build and I want everything to be smooth

Looks great on the desk, it's one of the reasons I went for the FT03 - small footprint and a sleek external design (no tray loading disc drive etc). Certainly would be fine next to the 24" ACD, though obviously the display will be a tad smaller as mine is the 27".

I've seen the silver one, and it looks good until you see the white plastic grille on the side which ruins the look. The black one has a black grille which blends in, thankfully. Very happy with the FT03 overall.

Don't worry about buying a short-cable PSU - I'm using a standard Antec modular unit, and there's space to tuck away excess cabling under the HD bays. The short-cable is a waste of money essentially, and there are better PSUs than those made by Silverstone.

Temps? Idle is between 29-35C depending on which core you're looking at (one always runs hotter than the others), and when gaming I've seen around 50C max after hours of playing (Deux Ex HR). The only slight issue is that HD temps are higher than usual - but no higher than an iMac either, so it's not a problem. I am using non-stock fans, Asaka Apaches to be exact, which results in a slightly higher noise level than stock, but better cooling. The Mac Pro is far quieter, but then Apple stuff always has been.

As for what runs what, my Mac Pro is connected to the 27" ACD, and the FT03 to the 23" ACD using a DVI and USB extender cable.

For a 15 year old this is one of the worse set ups I have ever seen. It looks like my mothers office. It completely lacks character. If it is your mothers office then it isn't so bad but for a teens room it's extremely boring.

What do you suggest would make it look better? Crap all over the place? I like a nice clean look.

First off no. I said it lacks character there's absolutely no evidence of youthfulness in this room. As I already said it looks like my mothers office.

Second, I don't know if I would call that a "clean look". The desk is neat such that there isn't paper every where but honestly it looks a bit cluttered. You have two desks squashed together and the other desk is just filled with an assortment of stuff and it doesn't make for a "clean look".

This is a clean look, and this is a clean look.

I can't stand it when things are THAT clean. It's just TOO clean, like a psych ward or something. Of course, I'm an outdoorsman from the Adirondacks so...I guess I'm used to it.

I'm pretty sure you're just jealous that he's 15 and most likely has a much nicer setup than yourself. Also, the phrase would have been "one of the worst" So maybe you are young, too.

I was thinking the same thing YK, most likely jealously. I like to keep things looking professional and nice, thats what I'm about.

No, I am not. Why is it that the first thing someone thinks when another person dislikes a setup is that they are jealous. There is absolutely no reason for me to be jealous of this setup, it really isn't that great. The link I posted in my previous post was a good setup, that's something to be jealous of.

And for a 15 year old I would think that they would put more creativity into the design which is what makes the setup that much worse.

At the moment I have no setup because my room is being redesigned and the only thing in it is my bed and my mini fridge but i'll be honest the overall setup of my things before was not that fantastic but it was still better than this.

What is the point of putting your age? If the setup is impressive, I could care less if you are a spoiled 8 year old or a 90 year old grandma with great taste.:D

Are you a youth psychiatrist and an interior decorator? You're taking this whole thing way too seriously. It's a nice setup and is actually one of the more organized workspaces I've seen on here.

Youthfulness in a room? You mean like videogame and music posters all over the place, crumbs, soda, clutter, junk, and stickers on everything? No thank you.

Agreed! I wonder why 90 year old grandma's never include their age in post...

Why would I be a child psychiatrist? I don't see how that has anything to do with my post. And honestly that's insulting that you think youthfulness amounts to dirt and filth in a room. You also don't need posters to be youthful, but i'm going to go on the assumption that you're not a youth because your idea of what constitutes youthful decor is entirely off.

Thank you for all the information! That is the one thing that has bothered me with the Silver model, looks great until you look at it from the side and you see that white plastic grill. I am going to check it out in store, not sure what stores in the US sell them though.

I am thinking going the i5/i7 route with an aftermarket cooler, and for the graphics card a gigabyte 6850. Do you think the stock fans will cool those well? I really want to keep the system quiet and cooled well. I will probably upgrade the fans by christmas.

I might have to have 3HDDs (one for OS X, one for Windows, one for media and backups) so thats good that it cools well.

I love the old cinema displays especially when they have the tiger wallpaper showing on them, and do i see a powerbook peeking in the first shot?
