Anyone here uses the micke desk from ikea and have any thoughts on it for a 27 inch imac?

I actually just picked up this version on Sunday.

Personally, I can't see a 27 inch iMac on it. The depth is just under 20 inches so unless you're planning on sitting further away from desk, the screen would be overwhelming IMO.

I've got a 21.5 inch iMac on mine currently and it feels just about right.

Bored at work so here's my desk shot...

Left to right we have a Power PC G4 (MDD) running 0S 9.2. With a really old DVD burner attached, a POS HP Slimline, 2 average HP 19" TFTs. Only saving grace is the Apple numeric keyboard!

We're stuck with really old tech as the software we run is bespoke and not compatible with anything, even the machines its running on :)

Was a sad day today, we lost one of our 11 remaining G4s :(

I hope you have an upgrade plan. Can't expect those old G4s to last forever.

Then again, my Apple //e was still running when I sold it a couple months ago :D

You'd be surprised at how many we've had over the years, what we have left now is basically 10 G4s, which have been repaired over time with the remains of several dozen dead but part salvageable older Macs. It's quite sad really!

Don't know if you can call it an upgrade but we'll be going all PC by the end of the year. Most of our kit relies on extensions in Quark 3.32 but the new system we'll be using will be web/cloud based *shudders*.

One of our IT guys claims theres still a few Apple ]['s hidden away in storage. Think he's holding on to them as 'leaving gifts' for himself. :D

No Side panel?
Removed it as I'm running an external PSU for my 570 so need to run the power cables.. Once I get some some custom 6/8pin PCIe cables made up and routed, I'm going to put that PSU in the lower drive bay. It's a 450w with 2x 6pin and 2x 8pin PCIe power and mounts in a 5.25" drive bay.

Loving this.

Are those two 30's?
I wish :( 23".

A buddy has some 27" Catleaps and I'm seriously thinking of picking up 2 of them. They use the same panel that's in the 27" TBDs.

Very nice - do you have a link for the wall?

Thanks

I am assuming you mean my wallpaper... I actually have NO idea where I got it from. According to the filename it's titled SoftAmbience although there is a possibility I re-named it.

Tried my best to search for it online but came up empty handed.

What are your specs? Video card? why not run the cables out the back? You might not get the best cooling with that door off.

I'm not getting the best cooling is correct. It's only temporary at the moment. The cables that came wih the PSU are too thick which is why I'm making up custom cables to reroute behind the mobo.

2.93ghz, 8gb, Palit GTX 570(awesome card btw), 256gb ssd osx, 64gb ssd windows 8, 2x 2TB.
