Folks, I need help! I need a desk, and I need a desk in the next month or so. My aunt is moving here to Greece, and she is bringing her stuff over in a container, so I have room to bring some stuff over. I have this glass desk now. I like it, but its not really my taste anymore. The black glass is all scratched, and its just crapping out on me.

I have been looking all over the internet, but I dont really see one that Im, A, happy with, or B, fits my budget. On top of that, I need it to be up to 40 inches wide. Does anyone have any websites for me? Ive been to all the major US office product companies (office depot, office max, staples), and Ive been to a bunch of online sites (amazon, computer desk showroom, simply desks). I dont want to go over $200 either. I saw Stefmesman's desk a while ago, and I wanted to create something like that, a workstation with ports in it, but I dont have the time to build something like that, or the experience. Any advice guys?

Did you try Ikea? Most of the desks on here come from there.

Tried Ikea too. Just a bit too big for me damnit. I cannot go longer than 40 inches, and that is cutting it real close. 36 inches would be much better, but I cant seem to find anything that I like. I really like what I attached to this reply, but its 8 inches too long. Never knew that searching for a desk would be such a pain in the butt!

Then why not go to Ikea and get some legs (or other under desk drawers for the base) and then get a solid wood or work top cut to suit from your local DIY store? Most will cut to size for you if you are not really able to DIY. Should be quite cheap to.

Just got my new Galant desk from Ikea :)

New Razer Sphex mouse mat is on its way. Hopefully I'll get some KRK Rokit 5's along with an M-Audio Oxygen soon to complete the set up. Looking for a new chair too.

I have this same desk! (Pictured on page 19)

That should work for you. About 36 inches in total, has storage room (small but still there), plus it looks decent. The storage shelves go great with Ikea's KASSET Boxes, so that could help with easy storage.

Im thinking of going with something like this as one leg:

vika-annefors-table-leg-with-storage__0094035_PE231708_S4.JPG

And then just use two standard legs on the other side, so I have some leg space. I started thinking about this idea last night, so I might just build it with my pops.

Destroysall, thanks for the help man, but the desk doesnt go with the rest of my room.

Would you mind sharing anymore information/pictures of the lego stand? Do you have a charger worked into it at all? That would be awesome

This was just meant for vertical stand although it can charge the iphone horizontally. İt is quite simple and wouldn't even take 5 mins to build. When I get some time, I will be sure to integrate charging fully.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS.

My fiancee used a vika table in undergrad with just four of their legs and her desk was incredibly wobbly. When we got a replacement table for her after graduating, we went with the alex drawer unit on one end and the birch legs on the other end. It's much more stable now.

Don't buy this... It's useful as much as simple legs, if you understand what I mean...

Go with this instead... http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10192824/ I'm going this as soon as possible.

Hey, no problem. I would then suggest the Annefors with Vika Tabletop, that should work for you and hopefully not break any bank. :)

TB Display. MBP 15" late 2011 high res crucial m4 256 16GB RAM. iPad 3 (not pictured). iPhone 4S.

Taken with iPad 3.

I sold the MBP 15" mid 2012 anti glare (w/ 256GB SSD/16GB RAM) which was new and a replacement through AppleCare for the MBP in the previous setup. It failed on me to many times and Apple replaced it with a new unit. I did not use the replacement machine, so I could max my benefits.

Then, I couldn't resist getting a Retina MacBook Pro.

So, here's my new setup with a Retina MacBook Pro 2.6 / 8GB / 512GB:D.

(I just came back from vacation so everything needs some cleaning  )

That's what I've got with 2 chrome legs the other end. I think it's a Vika birch table top. The only thing I don't like is that the top moves and then isn't sitting square with the drawer unit. Probably not a problem if you're not a lumax like me.

Bored at work so here's my desk shot...

photo.JPG

Left to right we have a Power PC G4 (MDD) running 0S 9.2. With a really old DVD burner attached, a POS HP Slimline, 2 average HP 19" TFTs. Only saving grace is the Apple numeric keyboard!

We're stuck with really old tech as the software we run is bespoke and not compatible with anything, even the machines its running on :)

Was a sad day today, we lost one of our 11 remaining G4s :(
