I usually don't get a chance to have my mom's desk in the picture as it tends to be cluttered with paperwork, but with the Christmas pictures going on we cleaned both tables for the sake of having nice pictures, and I took advantage of that time to take a nice new setup picture! I think I've probably taken dozens of these by now.

Because I'm a computer engineering student, the vast majority of my work gets done on my macbook air or lab machines, depending on what is appropriate. However, the G5 still makes a great machine for just about everything else. The G4 sucks now, but I am hoping to replace that very soon. What I replace it with, depends on how much longer my G5 lasts lol, the power supply sometimes gets flaky. It's annoying, usually right when I am going to replace my desktop(s), my needs change and I have to replace the laptop instead. Thanks to getting into iOS dev, I nearly lost my shirt on that fancy sony laptop and ate a nice loss. OTOH, getting involved in that and an iOS project at my university was SO WORTH IT.

Anyway, Merry Christmas, everyone!

The black glass is hard to clean :D

Is it really? I was thinking about picking one up from Ikea tomorrow. How is it holding up on scratches? I heard it scratches very easily.

my anti glare macbook pro setup up

What speakers are those? I see a lot of Mac owners have them.

Where did you get your desk?

No, it doesn't scratch, but you see every single fingerprint on it!

Should I go with frosted? I'm looking at going black/white in my man cave with a neutral grey. So, it's either black desk with white chair or frosted desk/white corner desk with black chair

At an office supply store, those were studio rta executive series desks, but those tables aren't made any more. In fact, the brand was discontinued a while ago too, which rather surprised me! After 10 years of ownership, I do sometimes get bored and want to redecorate, but I haven't seen anything else I'd want. The light wood ikea tables always look nice, but then the floor here is dark laminate and it'd look strange to have a combination like that.

BTW: Chuck-norris has Harman Soundsticks. HK has been making those for years, and they still make them! They cost around $150, and sometimes you can get them for closer to $100. While you can find better sound for $150, they just look really darn cool, and I've considered replacing my Klipsch setup with those before. I just can't be bothered and I'd be taking a hit in the sound quality department if I did that anyway. However, they do look cooler... and cleaner, and simpler.

Bah. Choices.

How do you think the desk and black chair would look like with a neutral grey?

You should try AQUADock's Mountain Lion theme for Leopard. No performance loss at all.

Is this set attached to each other or did you buy the MICKE Desk and MICKE Drawer on the side?

Thanks.

@dinggus
The desk itself has a width of 73cm + 35cm with the drawer element to the right.

The desk is part of Ikea's Micke series.

I bought the MICKE desk & side drawers separately, I was surprised how well made they are (meaning that they actually do sit so well together, not uneven etc).
I had planned for weeks to choose the MICKE series, I couldn't believe my luck when I finally got to Ikea to purchase them as they were actually on sale!

Is that BassJump 2 connected to the iMac? If so, does it give a significant change in bass and would you recommend it? Thanks!

The BassJump 2 is very good, although for the money I could understand if a lot of people would prefer to buy a full speaker set instead.
However, the BassJump really does complement the new iMac very well and I'm more than happy with the sound it produces in my apartment-sized room... I can see myself actually streaming/listening to music on my iMac by *choice*, it is that good IMO. There is definitely a solid difference in overall sound with the BassJump switched on.

Here is my current setup:
27" iMac and a mac mini that serves me as server.
View attachment 385912

We have the same desk setup, the small desk, with the drawers that match.
Wish I could afford a 27" display on mine, I'm currently rockin' 3x 20" Aluminium ACD's. Rendering the nice desk too small :(. Really need a new desk.

P.S. Gaming in eyefinity on this monitors is immense, they have the darkest blacks I've ever owned.
