A real blast from the past! A real powerhouse! It cost me more than my first car! The camera used was a early Sony Digital camera. O.3MP maximum resolution! Haha! This was taken in 1999 if I recall.

:apple: Macintosh Centris 650
25 MHz Motorola 68040 W/FPU
AAUI Ethernet
136MB FPM memory (8MB on logic board)
8GB Micropolis SCSI 2 HDD
Apple Multiscan 1705 17" monitor
MacOS 8.1
External NEC CD-ROM drive 2x

I know all them 12 core Mac Pros are jealous! :p

Keyboard and mouse attached to a KVM switch under my desk, the PC below was Win98/BeOS 5

Surprisingly the old 1705 is still working after all these years after giving it to a friend who we got together and built a classic MS-DOS/Win95 game machine for all the old PC games that were collecting dust.

Dungeon Keeper lives on via a Pentium 233MMX using the memory out of my old Mac and my SCSI hard drive.

I'm surprised I still have my Mac OS 8 install CD

Oh man, hardware from those days where built like tanks - like the old 50's cars that could crash into a dump trunk and still drive home feeling safe if another 2000 aged car hit you you'd still make it back in one piece!

Also noticed another blast from the past is in the stereo ... cassette player! Kids today look at those things like we did 8-Tracks back in the 80's .... hit the program button - ker-clunk ker-clunk ;)

Pics taken with my new fuji x100! In love with it.

Typewriter!! Love it, and its placement!! I learned how to type on one very similar to that one you have (model please?) - and I STILL hammar on keyboards when using computers, damn manual typewriters.
- Are you a writer/author in your professional life?

Here's my new desktop situation. Messy, but it's me. MacBook Pro and a Dell desktop I just got. Did a mind wipe on the Dell, fresh install of Linux Mint 14.

Thanks, Dell computers especially the Inspiron line, are fairly cheap and poorly made but they have the standard components which is great for running Linux. I'd like to replace the monitor with an UltraSharp but that's down the road a bit.

are you running mountain lion on your MBP? if yeah, how did you get your dock black?

There's a link to it in the picture thread I think. It's a small app to download which does the trick. Here

I used to have the xps 710 the last gaming rig Dell released with the stainless steel casing, coloured lights, I also had an 24 inch widescreen ultrasharp monitor which served me well. I was tempted to move to Alienware desktop, yet the urge to give Apple a try back in 2010 has left me stuck here ever since :)

The XPS is a nice piece of hardware too. Pretty much avoid the word Inspiron. Haha! This one I'm using was the wife's computer and now she bought a new one. Alienware I hear is good, but yeah, I'd rather have a desktop PowerMac any day of the week.

Haha, I've always had a soft spot for vintage Macs. I still have quite a few I have yet to post. I just tossed that oldest picture I had to see how many people here love the old platnium design models.

I love my current setup but I miss the days of old hardware and classic Mac OS easter eggs.

Smart Furniture is selling the last of these desks. Pretty limited, but you can still grab it before it is gone for good.

Expensive? Maybe. This is stuff I will have for many year and it will stand the test of time. I like to get pieces I want that will last. This is one of the few "mass-produced" pieces I own. Most of my things are from independent furniture makers.

Nothing personal at all calderone your set is very becoming. However,
I chuckled when I read this only because this was pretty much the EXACT same response my dad's old boss gave as to the reason he bought the Bently Continental R instead back in the 90's....I've learned that this is the way people with money speak to those with lessor means..

BTW he still drives the Bently.

I am by no means rich.

Just at the stage in my life where I want to buy the things I want and that last. Those things generally cost more.
