Somewhere Back In The Long Ago
A complete strip down and re-set is now required...I have reclaimed space to the left of the desk, getting rid of the tower CD rack and packing away all the CD's as I never use them now....But as it stands there isn't room for my rMBP .....Yet:D

I decided it was time to use all of my electronics at the same time like some other regulars here do xD ...

except for my macbook air. It's hungry.

Randomly: I can change the keyboard backlight color.. but the tower is better, you can make it cycle through colors, so I decided to just have it cycle all of the colors. Why not, right? :D

Sorry if it's been asked before, what keyboard is that? Is it mechanical and is it Mac layout? Thanks

That's one hungry macbook!!!

What it doesn't eat in battery life it eats in hamburger cd cases!

It's an alienware tactx keyboard, which is sadly not mechanical. It's made by logitech and uses the oldschool key feel, which I can't say I'm a big fan of lol. The spacebar is squeaky! OTOH it does look really cool :\ And I was really wanting a backlit keyboard, so when it came with my desktop I was really happy.

I think I might get a logitech k810 to replace it. Maybe? That or a regular apple keyboard! I miss that key feel right now :\ I'd like a mechanical but I'm not comfortable forking up $100 for something that might end up being way too noisy.

Biff...

Is all that power for work, or just for your personal use? Very nice regardless!

Just for personal use. At work I have a 2009 24" iMac (Some kind of core2duo, 8gb ddr3 etc). We've just got some of the new 27" iMacs with 16gb ram, but mine isn't due for replacement quite yet :(

At home we also have a VM Server (2.6ghz quad, 12gb ram) running about 17vms and a file server (15tb of HDD space), which shares to 2 HTPCs, Xbox, PS3 etc. You've gotta have toys :p

As usual!? :D
Sadly, yes, as usual. He'll clean it up if I pester him, but he just seems to move it all somewhere else and then shifts it back again over 2 days....

Nice upgrade!
I was going to put 8gb of RAM in it, but the price wasn't worth it, so went to 16gb. This then introduced a new issue, which is I guess why Apple didn't give 16gb as an option... it took ages to enter sleep.

It took about 2 minutes... this meant that when I was studying, you'd finish a class, close laptop, clean up papers etc, put laptop into bag... while it was still entering sleep and it appears that the hard drive sensor isn't working when it's entering sleep. Turns out I pretty much ****ed the HDD, so put in the SSD and just use the HDD for music. The HDD spins down after 2 minutes of not being used, so it's off most of the time.

Zip ties my friend

I use zip ties and have the tray and I still see some cables.

Maybe i'm not patient enough.

I plan on getting a new desk soon. Just a basic top from IKEA and some legs. That is going to be a disaster with cable management.
