Finally got myself a decent camera so thought I'd post some better pictures of my setup.

Treated myself to a Canon 100D. My first DSLR and I'm amazed at the quality :D! I love taking pictures with my iPhone and I think I'm going to enjoy it a lot more with this.

On to my setup anyway...

I currently have a Retina Macbook Pro 13, with the 256GB SSD. It's my first Mac and I don't miss Windows at all (well maybe just the snap feature). It's great to take to University and I've never had to even think of taking the charger with me, as long as its sitting at 100% when I leave.

I have a 21" 1080P Samsung monitor, which I am hoping to upgrade sometime in the future. Would love a Thunderbolt Display but would like them to release a Retina one before I drop that type of money onto one. I then have my 32GB iPhone 5 in White, which I'm looking forward to upgrading in August as its given me a few problems network wise since I got it.

I also have a few Belkin accessories, such as the Belkin iPhone 5 dock and a USB hub, both I have had a while and both still work great.

14099993835_e296924404_h.jpg

Although I did have a bad experience with a Belkin in-car charger which I had to send back. I then have my Virgin Superhub and a 250GB Apollo USB 2 (really need to invest in a USB drive) for my Time Machine backups.

I have a Incase bag and sleeve that I use to carry around my Mac. I tend to not even use the sleeve as the bag is such a snug fit for the laptop.

Nothing in comparison to some of the awesome set ups on here, but it does the job with the space I have. If anybody is wondering all the furniture is from Ikea.

If you want to add some good win features to osx like snap, and live windows previews, checkout hyper dock. I find it makes things a little more familiar for us ex-windows users. It's also got some other cool dock enhancements.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out! Think I've got used to not having snap after 6 months but it'll be nice to have it back.

I got my first DSLR last June. Upgraded in March to my next. It's a great hobby and once you have caught the bug, your wallet will feel the pain. Be sure to post some pictures over in the POTD thread https://forums.macrumors.com/forums/83/

Here's my updated 27-inch iMac setup with my new Sony LBT-GPX555 1800W Bluetooth Wireless Music System. I thought stereo shelf systems were a thing of the 90's, but these new guys come with Bluetooth and NFC built-in and provide WAY more power and bass than these dinky little portable speakers that aren't that much different in price. Anyway, my iMac desk setup is now complete and couldn't be happier!

Edit: The spec is from the camera, not on my computer.

I finished the build for my hackintosh over the weekend. It was a simple build, but I'm a little disappointed in the quality of the Bitfenix case. The "handles" are a flimsy plastic that would easily break if used to pick the computer up.

It's running 10.9.2 with no problems. I had to choose between the wireless card and the dedicated graphics card. It was an easy choice... the wireless card of course! No, seriously, I picked the graphics card. Duh. :D

Specs:

  • i5-4670K 3.4 GHz
  • Noctua Low-Profile Quiet CPU Cooler
  • GIGABYTE GA-Z87N-WIFI LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard
  • Samsung 840 EVO 500 Gig SSD
  • Corsair CS Series 550 Watt ATX Modular Power Supply
  • Crucial Ballistix Sport Very Low Profile 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3-1600
  • BitFenix Prodigy Midnight Black / Black Steel / Plastic Mini-ITX Case
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 770 DUAL SuperClocked 4GB
  • HP Pavilion 27xi Silver / Black 27" 7ms IPS HDMI LED Backlight Monitor

Photos taken with iPhone 5s and played with filters on pixlr. Props to tonymacx86.

My set up after cleaning my desk!

The rMBP serves as a desktop replacement.

Just cleaned off my desk. Here is my current setup in the corner of the living room:

  • 27" iMac i7 w/ 16gb ram, 512 flash, 780m
  • Bose Companion 5 Speaker System
  • APC BR700G UPS

Under the desk to the left is the sub/amp component of the Companion 5 system and the battery backup unit. The desk is surprisingly roomy. I am a pretty big guy at 6'4" 200lbs and I have no problem getting comfortable here and spending hours on the computer working or playing (I have a simple black chair that I moved to take the pic).

I have always been a fan of glass desks too. This one is cool with the country names printed out. Found it at Wayfair.com

The Companion 5 is going to hold me over until I finally save my pennies for a Peach Tree audio system!! :D

Not really a desk... :)
We moved in our new apartment last week and got rid of the traditional desk. Now it's solely this ikea secretary (? - that's its german translation anyway)

It contains my 2012 MBA 8GB and a 2TB WD HDD.

Hope you like it.

Desk For Summer

Hello,

Well there hasn't been anything major since the last desk update a few months back. My £25 PowerBook G4 has been restored back to its former glory with a new case and screen, I also got a Pioneer Audio deck to the right just out of shot. I also sold my Macintosh SE/30. Other than these tiny changes I really haven't been around much during April with a two week training camp with my rowing team in Chester and then BUCS Regatta last weekend and so the desk needed a major dust and clean general clean up.

I love this thread gives me great Ideas for my man cave and things to put on my wish list as people say I am hard to shop for. The lady who is overdosing with Little Mermaid stuff has a sick sick set up. I emailed it to my friend whoms caught just discovered the little mermaid and he got a couple of those posters.

Mine is like that but with Batman. I need a new desk tho. I am waiting for all the college kids to start moving out or for the September X-mas in BU(when everyones lease in Boston expires) to get a super nice desk. Right now I have my Pier 1 one from HS. Trying to get a more adult looking one that doesn't look like its part of a barn collection:D
