Nice set up. I want to get an external monitor for my MBP. Any good recommendations? The Apple display is too expensive for my budget. If I can miraculously keep it under $200 that'd be great.

There are tons of 21-24 inch 1080p monitors that can be had for around $160ish

You really want to take the look of the monitor into account when your buying one. Your going to be looking at it all the time, its not like a PC case which you sit under your desk, the monitor is in front of you the whole time.

Imo, at that price range, you might be able to get a Dell UM2412, which is a fantastic monitor, i really love mine.

I've been really happy with the Dell S2340M. It goes well with the look of Apple products and has been great since the day I took it out of the box. I saw it on sale last week some where for $120.00.

A few changes since the last post. Most notably, on the far left of my desk is my new iMac G4 20" with an Intel NUC (soon to be mounted in the dome). Main computer is of course my '08 Mac Pro, older Dell Speakers on my G-DRIVE 2TB FireWire 800 backup disk. Sub is behind my center monitor. Far right is a CRT for analogue gameplay from my Wii/N64 through my capture card (Blackmagic Intensity Pro).

So many screens! Add a toilet-chair and a minifridge and I would never leave that desk

I used to think the 3 screens was overkill, but when I get deep into work and I have 2-3 VMs running at once, Netflix or a Twitch stream running, and still need a web browser and my iMessage, it's justified imo. I think the toilet chair would be overkill, but I would love a mini-fridge. ;)

What exactly is "light" for you? Does it mean minimalistic? I'm just wondering, because you have a lot of stuff on your desk.

Here is my set up... 27" iMac (2013) with a Dell Monitor hooked up to it... The third Dell Monitor (Far left), is not hooked up to anything. You will also see my MacBook Air 11" below the monitor stand.

Well, I think it is minimalistic in the sense that I don't really own anything I don't need. What you see on the desk are basically my work tools (plus some notebooks). I believe your tools shouldn't get in the way of your work flow (I'm a graphic designer), and in that sense I'm trying to keep my setup as light as possible. I also like that it is quite portable.
