Woah! That is a nice setup. One day I ope to mount my computer on the wall like that. More desk space!! What size is that screen though? Looks like 30"

Thanks! It's the 24"er. Yea the extra desk space is great, my desk is barely 2' deep and the monitor on the stand took up almost half that.

That panel is two generations old. The 30" wasn't even released in that bezel design. My guess is it's a 20" given the size of the icon.

So can you tell us how you mounted the panel? You obviously fished the wires/cables into your wall. Nice setup.

Link to wallpaper too if you can. I love F1, full stop.

It was real easy to mount the monitor without spending the $200 for a mount. There are 3 openings on the back of the monitor where 3 teeth from the stand snaps into it. Well 2 well placed and anchored screws that hook into the openings and that bad boy ain't going anywhere. I couldn't yank it off the wall if I tried.

And I got the wallpaper from either this months or last months desktop thread here.

Now I just need to do something about that center speaker and get a wireless keyboard and i'll be set.

How do you like that Saitek keyboard? I'm thinking about getting one. Is the arm rest plastic or is it padded? Thanks!

I actually really like it. For a long time I used a old Nan Tan Corp keyboard with Alps 'clicky' springs, but eventually I found the reflex on the keys too harsh on my hands/wrists after long coding sessions. A couple of months earleir I had bought the Eclipse for my gaming machine & decided to switch it into service as my main keyboard. It has a really nice soft reflex to it that I can type on for 10+ hours without discomfort. It's not metal backed, but I was initially extremely surprised at how heavy, sturdy & well made it is.

Oh & the wrist wrest is hard plastic, not padded.

So I just came back home to visit family and took over my sister's desk apparently and here's the dramatic change of things...

If you look back a few pages you'll see the difference. I'm moving out again after new years.

Happy holidays everyone!

Merry Christmas everyone! I finally got to open my new iMac, and it's perfect!

im guessing your a switcher cuz i see a PC there :)

EDIT: that chin looks HUGE compared to that of the new Al 24"s:eek:

EDIT 2: oh, by any chance, can you tell me what kind of desk you have there and if it would be good for a 24"? check out the link in the sig for pix of my desk ;)

Yup it's a refurb. Only $850. :D

Only?, thats a RIP OFF!!!!!, that should be $700, compared to the new imacs, and the old ones as well!!!

Switcher!? Ha, I've been using Mac's for 3 1/2 years! :D The laptop was only $379 at Best Buy, so I picked up in August. It's been decent so far, even with Windows Vista!

As for the whole sub thing, i had it sitting on the floor and didn't notice a huge difference. The bass hit a little harder, but it wasn't something that I was wowed about. Plus, the left speaker cord doesn't reach long enough to the sub so the setup becomes cluttered.

The iMac, yeah I probably could have gotten a better price. But $850 is a lot cheaper than spending $1200 on a new 20" iMac. The refurb 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo iMac's are going for $700, so for $150 for a better processor, more RAM, much better video and all that other crap is worth it.

What kind of laptop is that?
I'm looking to get my stepdad a basic laptop for surfing the net.

It's a Compaq Presario C563NR. I've owned 2 HP's and this one has been the best so far. The build quality leaves a lot to be desired, but for under $400 who can beat it? It has a Celeron M 1.5GHz, 1.5GB RAM (I added 1GB), 80GB HD, 15.4" Brightview Widescreen, DVD Burner, and Vista Home Basic. I really do like it, and it's really great laying in bed and browsing the web. Make sure you get another 1GB of RAM though, the 512MB it came standard with with horrible. It took 5 minutes just to boot to the desktop...

Yeah i was actually quite surprised to find it had a single 1GB DIMM. The machine was supposed to ship with 2x512MB, but I guess Apple gave me a Christmas present after all. :D

To be honest, I've had a 160GB HD before (my Dell I got last year had one) and I only used 30GB of it. Even right now, only 25GB of my HD is full. I don't have that many files (about 1100 songs, couple of movies, and 1600 photos) so it will be a really, really long time before I come close to getting full.

Thanks a lot!

I'll definitely check it out for sure and you're right...who can beat that for under $400.

Was upgrading the RAM difficult?

No problem! Upgrading the RAM is extremely easy. Simple as taking 2 screws out and popping the RAM in there. Best Buy doesn't sell this laptop anymore, but check them out along with the HP website, because they just introduced a new model. Also check out Circuit City, as they usually have good deals too.
