Now, #*$^, thats a system!! 8 core?? are you serious? Man, i thought that was for people who multi tasking using all of the final cut studio apps, and adobe master creative suite ALL AT ONCE!!!! Thats a system, was it a gift for the holidays? how big is the monitor?

valdore's system is certainly nice, but as far as I know the one that takes the cake around here (if you really want some powerful Mac pr0n) is mward333's:

It's an 8-core 3 GHz Mac Pro with three 30-inch Apple displays, 16 GB RAM, and 4 TB of hard drive space

I kind of wonder what that guy does with all that.
I'm a fan of one to two displays myself. Three seems a bit head-pounding to me.

If you check out the rest of that thread I linked to, what he does is discussed.

As for the monitors...I've never had a situation where I felt I had too much screen real estate :) I'd take as many as possible. I've seen one guy's setup who had five 30" ACDs...it was great.

I think im dying of overexposure to power.. I don't know how much he paid for that thing, does he have the top video card too? does he have RAID?

EDIT: I am dying, he has a 2.8 imac at home loaded with 4 gigs of RAM, and 1TB HD, I don't know where he gets the money, and why he needs all this insane power

K, thanx

You can get a lot better for the price elsewhere. Read this for an idea about Bose's manufacturing practices, then take a look here (especially the 'Bundle Speaker Systems' section at the bottom) to find a much better alternative in your price range. I hate to see people getting ripped off, so I hope you heed my advice.

Caris, lost edens link on Bose does not apply to the Companion series that Bose sells. It's biased, but still a good read on their home-theater systems. I'm currently running two studio monitors, and now (bought today) a Klipsch RPW-10 subwoofer (not bad for the $280 I paid for it). I know what good sound quality is, and would consider myself an audiophile.

While I would never recommend Bose's home-theater systems, they're Companion series are actually quite good. The Klipsch ProMedia is about equal, and is about $100 dollars less, but the convenience, quality, and size of the Bose Companion series is excellent.

No disrespect to you lost eden, but whenever the word "Bose" comes up - anywhere, anytime - you come on in saying what junk it is. I would side with you if it had to do with any of their other products (their 901 series are acceptable), but having owned their first version Companion 3s - and now running KRK studio monitors with a quality Klipsch sub - I can vouch for the quality the Companion series have - which is better than their home-theater systems.

Peace
