As a man who loves his pair of B&W P5's, the Beats Wireless do not sound great, but having tried to find a decent pair of bluetooth headphones with decent battery that don't weigh a tonne and are comfy, the beats are them. Tried out the Parrot Zik as my other choice of bluetooth cans, but they just weren't as comfy, and the battery is shocking in comparison.

Saying all that, awesome set up man, looks brilliant!

B&W P5's and P7's i've looked at, not tried on, but looked at. P7's is the over ear-model, right? I've kinda grown into the over-ear-models. Is the P5's that comfy that it beats it? I've only tried a couple of Beats and a few Bose. It's a ton of money, but bluetooth would be a big plus. I'll have another look at the P5's before I decide.

Thankyou! I've had my eye on the Henge Dock aswell as the Bluetooth Powermate for it... Would be cool.

The P7's will be my next purchase of headphones to replace the P5's. The P7's are indeed over ear and I'd say the P5's, just down to their weight in comparison is a comfier fit. But if the bluetooth is essential I'd say go for the beats. You'd just be annoyed with a cable all the time with anything else, obviously.

Ouch!

Very nice! What is the curly looking stand/holder on the far right? (Microphone holder?)

It's an iPad roller stand by "Just Mobile" but I have now relegated it to a cable tunnel holder for my wire network mash :) ImageUploadedByTapatalk1415245604.561387.jpg

I'd like to try on the P7's. But no store here has it in store for "testing". I've got money to spend, so the Bluetooth-version of the Studio would be useful, but i'd like the sound to be atleast decent enough.

Question: Why are the new Bluetooth-headphones made so that when the battery dies, you can't even use it with cord? It's so stupid.

the Arrival of the 17'' PowerBook

So earlier this week when skimming eBay I found a mint condition 17'' PowerBook G4. I offered the seller £65 and they accepted, I couldn't believe it. Its had very little use, as both the trackpad and keyboard feel like new, with no signs of wear marks whatsoever. The battery in 10 years has also only done 100 recharge cycles.

My guess is the machine has been moved very little and has perhaps been used in desktop mode connected to a monitor for most of life, with an external keyboard and mouse connected. Or it was used for a couple of projects and has been sat in storage for some time. Who knows?

Specs of the Machine
2GB RAM, 1.5Ghz PowerPC G4, 500GB Western Digital Scorpio black, (connected via FW 800) in my G-Tech mini enclosure. slow Internal hard drive is dead, but will be replaced at some stage.

I've seen ones in way worse condition go for far more than a £100 so I'm glad I found a bargain

I think I prefer it to my unibody MacBook Pro which I have now put in my BookArc on the small desk at the side

If only Apple still made a 17'' laptop, it doesn't feel that big when sat at it.

How are the Beats? Would you recommend? Thinking about the Studio Wireless ones for myself, or the P7's.

Those recommending P5 & /P7 are spot on.
I have a pair of P5 and I will not be buying anymore headphones.
As long as you have the $$$ purse.

The Beats are nice. I've had them for over a year now. However I will be upgrading to the Wireless Studios. I find the Solos pinch my ears now that I'm wearing glasses.

Have a look at the Bose AE2w. I've had mine a few months and can really recommend them!

The small Bluetooth-module is located on the left side of the headphone. You can remove it entirely and pop in a headphone cord in its place. This is great for two reasons, firstly, you can use your headphones as normal Bose AE2 headphones while leaving the battery module at home to charge. Secondly, you don't have to have your entire headphones charging at your already cluttered desk, only the small module. Oh, and the day your battery is depleted, you can probably just replace the module, rather than the entire headphone.

I have to say, I was never a fan of the styling, but as I bought them and realized that you can remove entire module I have to say that the increased functionality is worth the tradeoff in design.

Also, they sound amazing!

I'd give them a 8.5/10 (could do with the 12+ hour battery life of the new on-ear model, and also a bit steep in price IMO, otherwise they would be getting a 10/10)

Brand of those monitor arms?

Thanks

Beautiful, what's the chair?

It's a Herman Miller Mirra (the first one, they now have a "2"):

What kind of computer desk you are using? Where can I buy it?

I actually had it custom built to fit my exact space by Workspaces Inc:

http://www.workspaces.com

It cost about $1000 with shipping, but it's very well built, and the made it to my exact specifications. I had a panel added to the back with a hidden wire channel, it hides all of the wires, hubs, ethernet switch, etc.

As of this month - iBook G4 2004 and MacBook Air 2013.
