I wouldn't say they are extremely heavy relative to other older monitors, but they're awkward to move due to size. They only weigh 27.5 lb, for comparison the 20" iMac G4 weighed 40 pounds, and CRTs obviously weighed more than that. I think it just comes down to being awkward to hold on to, I find my iMacs to be extremely cumbersome because they want to slip out of my hands...

Its been a while since I posted my current setup in my office. Moved a few months ago, and dedicated office space got an upgrade. Loving my current setup with window view. Left is my personal 2019 iMac, primarily used for photo/video editing, bills & shopping. Right is my company-issued MBP (2018 6C i7|32GB|1TB) connected to an LG 27UK850-W via USB-C.
Updated space - found plenty of design inspiration in this thread!
Nice - very clean setup ... I am quite curious about the black box that seems to hover above the end table on the right side of the desk. What is it?

Recently sold my 2015 5k iMac and picked up a 16" MacBook Pro.
Love it so far, only thing I miss is the 27" display of the iMac. But my need for portability outweighed the need for bigger display.

Love the desk, and how the MBP is tucked away! Very clean and efficient use of space!
Here's Mac mini office / studio setup *2012 Quad-Core i7, 1T SSD and 16 GB ram. Speakers are Focal Alpha 50s. The display is a 4K LG27UK650 which I also use with a 2019 13" MBP using Thunderbolt 3 to USB-C for 4k 60 Hhz video.

I've held off for a while and have had that exact build in my cart several times. That picture just made me go for it. Can't wait.
Apple had far better looking computers back then. I had the black MacBook (Core2Duo) and it was so easy to upgrade the ram and HDD. Now we can't even do those things.

I agree. It looks so elegant and timeless. It’s like an Art piece. Aluminum is so redundant at this point. As much as I would love for Apple to start experimenting with design again I don’t see it happening. I blame it on Tim Cook’s complacency and the fact that Plastic has gotten a bad reputation over the years. (Thank You 5C)
Made some edits to my setup last night and today. Currently running a 2019 15in i9 MBP, Caldigit TS3 Dock.
Monitors are a Samsung 34in 3440x1440 Ultrawide and a 4k 43in Samsung in Portrait. Picked up the sound system yesterday a Onkyo 5.1 receiver and a set of Klipsch R-51M Speakers (sounds amazing). Use this setup for Development, Sounds and Video Editing.
Also have the Mac Full Size Keyboard, Magic Trackpad (Gen 2) and the Logitech MX Master.
Monitor on the left is just hooked up to the reciever for on-screen menus and the Apple TV.
(Sorry for the wires, just finished building it and have not done cable management yet)

Apart from the cable eyesore (understood that it's a WIP), that's a great setup. What is the Samsung on the right (portrait)? Is that a TV or an actual monitor... #jealous
Is the height of that Samsung hard on your neck? It's almost twice as tall as the LG monitor. I have a bad neck and anything like that would be a killer, I try to keep my displays at an even level.

the 43in is a Samsung 4k TV (60FPS), so 2160x3840 pixels, and I am running it at 1 to 1 for more screen space. I work at home so this is my work setup and it is nice to be able to have all of my windows up like that. It probably has some issues with colors and such, but if you choose the right settings on the TV its not bad as a monitor, I wouldn't use it for gaming but its a great option for productivity tasks.[automerge]1578854517[/automerge]
To an extent, yes, but as long as the stuff high up is not something you are using often, I usually have something streaming up there, or like chat stuff, its not too bad. Typically for work I use the bottom 2/3rds and that is about the right height. I think its actually better this way because with it landscape it was a really long way from L to R to turn your head.
My new workspace at home. In addition to flexibility with an MBP, I also wanted a desktop solution (also for kids). First consideration was an iMac 27inch but the 'bezels' are huge on that device. That's why we opted for a slimmer alternative: Mac mini (2018) 3 GHz i5 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SDD + LG 27UD88-W 4K monitor. The LG monitor has USB-C connection so I can also use it with my MBP. The Mac mini is connected through HDMI. With the button below the screen I can easily switch between HDMI or USB-C.
Mini hangs under the desk with a Mac mini mounting bracket. Spacegrey magic keyboard and touchpad. A HomePod for music.
The MacMini gets really hot. The Chassis acts as a heatsink. Mounting under the desk I'm wondering if that'll be an issue.
