Very nice - dare I say that I also own a set of those Harman-Kardon speakers. I really ought to post my setup.

The only issue with my speakers is that they go to sleep too quickly and I have to wait or press the volume button to activate them. I'm often 3 seconds into a song or video before the subwoofer/speakers kick in. I think it's due to the cable I use. I got the set of speakers from a friend, but didn't get the audiocable with.

Updated to include my setup - a 27" iMac from late 2015. A Logitech Triathlon Mouse - some Denon headphones, a docking station with a 120Gb SSD taken from my LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt enclosure to keep my Windows virtual machine on. My LaCie drive and Time Machine drive sits the back of the Mac. View attachment 945113
Nice to see a Mac for real, that looks used, rather than the pristine set-ups that look staged for a magazine shoot.

Mac set up as it was: July 2018 in my apartment of 16 years in Phuket.

The sorry state of my Mac set up as it is today: August 2020, in temporary digs in my home country, New Zealand.

After 10 itinerant months back in NZ (at 65 I was too old to renew my contract teaching at a university according to Thai Education Department policy..... and according to NZ government policy I have not been in NZ long enough recently to qualify for the National Superannuation residents usually get when they turn 65), I have landed a seasonal job driving a truck for an agricultural contractor, starting in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll have managed to find and move into an apartment before then.....

If so, I'll be able to acquire the peripherals to set up the 2009 Mac Mini again.....

And hope Apple comes up with a suitably specced, reasonably priced new iteration before too long. The 2018 Mini is over powered and over priced for my humble needs and budget.

Haven't posted here in a while. Mac and PC setup.

MacPro (Big Sur beta on external TB2 SSD drive) programming, desktop for WFH
Intel NUC Hades Canyon with eGPU (AMD 5700XT) as my small footprint gaming PC
BenQ 3840x1440 100Hz FreeSync2 monitor

I absolutely love your setup. I too was a cylinder Mac Pro owner until I sold it and got an iMac in 2017. But you went one better than I did and got the dark Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad and Magic Trackpad. It really looks ace.

Can the iMac stand be taken off? I was just wondering how you had attached it to that arm!

I cannot be removed. I believe there is still an option to purchase a VESA mount version... but if you look at the OP's photo, you can see the stand... there are kits that use the hole in the stand as the mount point for monitor arms/stands. Pity, really.

Yes, exactly so. I rather regret not ordering the VESA mount version, but I’m pretty happy with the Ergotech Freedom Arm.

I‘m not a power user, just online teaching, PowerPoint, Word, and internet browsing. I expect this iMac to last me a few more years. When I go for a new one, I will opt for the VESA mount, if they offer it.

As it is, having recently moved into an apartment and needing some files stored on the 2009 Mac Mini...... Bought a UPS and 24" HP monitor, with built in speakers that are adequate for now........ I reckon on better speakers in due course, and a new Mac Mini when Apple releases a new iteration.

PS: Canada and New Zealand has a work treaty where no visa is required to work here. Plus you maybe able to work right from home sweet home. Give it a try if this can help I'll be happy.
I am pretty sure this is incorrect information. There is a work holiday visa for those under 35 years of age. Otherwise, one must apply based on job skills etc. And at age 65, it is not likely one would qualify.

If you can show me that there is a treaty which grants a work visa to any New Zealander or Canadian who wants one I will gladly apologise for doubting you.
