preview. still tweaking this desk setup. Loving the bigger desk and more drawers but going through to finalize the setup so sorry about the mess. It will be more finished when I get the MBP 16 and Studio Display.

Added a 12.9-inch iPad Pro to my setup - makes a great 2nd monitor for the M2 Mac mini. It's an M1 iPad from the Apple Refurb Store - nearly £400 less than the current M2 model! That leaves my iPad mini as my portable iPad alongside my M1 MBA and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
That looks great! What stand are you using for the iPad Pro there?

Retired my 2017 iMac and made the jump to Apple Silicon. I make my living as a teacher on Zoom (Latin, Greek, and Art History), and for this purpose, I need a multitude of windows open at the same time. Even the 27" 5k screen on my iMac felt too small. Solution: Mac Studio M2 Max with Samsung's QN700B 55 inch 8k TV. I finally have enough pixels and space! It is the equivalent of four 27" 4k displays. I'm running it in MacOS's default: HiDPI "looks like 4k." Text is crystal clear, even better than on the iMac. The desk is really deep, so my face is about 120-140 cm from the screen.

Helpful tips for an 8k display:
- I use Rectangle Pro for window management.
- See the settings used by this guy on Reddit.

Looks great but what's going on with your keyboard?
It has an old and worn out silicone keyboard protector on it, and the black paint has worn off the most frequently used keys. Looks ugly, I know. And the keyboard is leftover from my 2017 iMac, so it doesn't have TouchID. But I saved $300 by not having to buy another keyboard and magic trackpad, and my Mac always unlocks with my Apple Watch anyway.

Aha all good! I was just wondering as it looked a bit out of place on such a nice setup like some crazy disaster had befallen it.

Nice Setup,

Does this monitor have power delivery?
How do you go about recharging your mac?
Do you use any app like AlDente?

I'm going to sound a little silly with my next question, but here goes... a lot of you guys have these desk mats. May I ask what the purpose of these is?

I'll tell you about my experience:

for several years I had a minimal workstation, with a custom made solid wood desk.
After a couple of years I started to notice that the portion under the mouse was starting to wear out.
I had the desk restored by the carpenter who made it for me, but from that moment on I started using a very large 900mmx400mm mat and I must say that I'm finding it fine, keyboard and mouse are slightly quieter and my desk doesn't get damaged .

The purpose is two-fold.

1. to protect the desktop from excessive wear and tear from the mouse
2. provides a smoother and softer writing serface
That makes sense. Reckon I'll need to order one for myself now. I don't use a mouse, but these mats do look good so if for nothing else, then for aesthetic value 😁

Cool setup.. may I ask which iPhone stand that is? I like it.

All of the reasons mentioned above plus a little bit of padding and it doubles as a large gaming mouse pad.

Thanks! :)

Yes, it has 90W power delivery through USB-C as mentioned, and doubles as a USB/Ethernet hub. One of the reasons I bought it, along with fully supporting my Xbox Series X via HDMI (something I wish the Apple Studio Display would do).

For me it's purely for comfort. Resting the wrist on high quality leather definitely beats the cheap IKEA desk I'm using.

Here's a picture of my set up at my new desk. I took this right after I set it up and it's not final, and I plan to replace the monitor within the next couple of weeks.

Here you can see the cable management that I did by stashing everything underneath the desk.
