I was just curious if you got the macbook as well with the trade.

Ah, I guess I could have been more specific. Haven't had to practice forum etiquette in quite some time.

I got the rMBP through work. So it will fill in as my home workstation until I get it figured out :)

Finally got a new chair. It's so much more comfortable than my 13 year old chair. The cushion had worn out of the old one.

Here's my setup! I can't post the phone and dock right now because I'm using it to take the photo! My 2015 retina MacBook Pro will have to suffice! :p

Ok...

I've been watching as you guys post your setups and they all look awesome. I never really cared to post mine. Posted my wive's once. But today I decided to do it.

I will have to make two posts (EDIT 3 because of pic limits). One to show the panorama of our Mac/Jack wall (We love TNBC as much as Apple), and the other to show the evolution of my desk setup.

It has been over a year in the making and I like to take pictures to reference to when I am deciding wether to add or take something away from it, which is why I have all of these. But I am proud of it, and I hope someone can get a cool idea.

Here is our "couch potato wall". Tried to do a pano... Guess I'm a "faux" tographer.:D

From left to right Apple products:
11 year old daughter's 2007 white Macbook on the TV
4 year old daughter's Mac Mini
Wife's desk has her 13" 2008 Macbook Uni with Magic Mouse and Keyboard, iPad 3G, and iPhone 5S
My desk has my 13" late 2014 MBPr with Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse, iPhone 4, iPod 4G, and 2010 Macbook Pro

I put the weights and pull up bar there to make people think I work out. Shhhhh

Macs are always closed but open to avoid the "where's the computer" questions.

Zelda fans look for link.

Now for the evolution of me setup.

Short story is I did music most of my life. Didn't do it for a couple of years. And then got back into it so I had to put everything back together and update stuff. Some stuff I didn't update. As stated this was all over a year of tweaking. It's where I spend most of my time making music wether it's making me money, or not.

A lot of what's going on here is just to put things somewhere and for reference.

It will all come together.

Last.

Sorry if this is too much guys.:(

I like to run my main DAW fullscreen and my plugins on top. In these photos are the first time I got duplicate screens, mounted them, and then got screens that had smaller bezels. I also got the Dualhead2go, so I can have that one long monitor. So it's technically on two monitors ran by the Mac. This also shows me going from my 2010-2014 to run everything. Wife got it for me for Christmas.

The last if of how it looks sitting down in the "cockpit". I carefully placed the monitor so that there is no gap when sitting. I have since been considering placing a 7" display under the desk glass to look down at the mixers and plugins, instead of up.

Again, sorry if this is too much, but I had free time and am proud of my setup.

Also, I use a regular chair because playing guitar in a nice comfy armed chair is a P in the A.

The way it is now, is the picture in the first post.

Finally bought a Thunderbolt Display and cleaned up my setup a bit.

I've been wanting one forever and finally bought one about a week ago. Feels great!

Not pictured is my space grey iPhone 6 because it's the only thing I own that will take a decent picture. Still wish I could take much better pictures of my setup to post in here!

@BoneDaddy: Wow! Your passion shows. What kind of music do you create with your setup? Thanks for sharing. :)

Thank you. For years I worked on producing and recording local hip hop, then became a vocalist in a metal band.

Now I just make scores. In hopes that I'll soon be able to market those out to indi video games and film, and work my way up from there. Personal things made me kind of have to start over. I make some income writing lyrics for a really good artist abroad.

PM me if you want to take a listen. Have a good afternoon.

Nice on the KRKs! I used to have those same passive KRK ST-6's. Beautiful monitors. I've since sold them and wish I hadn't :( Oh well, I use Bose Companion 5's and/or headphones which are great for now, though I wouldn't mind getting some monitors again!

I'm actually a musician myself and have a made a few dubstep/drumNbass/ttrip hop style tracks.

Wow I'm glad someone else knows how wonderful they are. They are passive as you stated, so a lot of folks don't use them, or never did. I thought about selling them over the past 4 years and just never can. I don't think I ever will. I've heard many other brands and just know these too well to change, unless I'm spending 1500-3500 on higher level monitors.

Good to know a fellow musician. It's medicine for the soul. If you want to collaborate, or just get feedback, send me an email. Have a good weekend.:)

This is my simple "pimp my MBA"-setup. I need my workplace on the go, so I go for the Macbook Air 11" i7 with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. No, it is not the new MBr 12" :)

Honestly, I switched back from MBPr 15" :) Portability over Performance. I'm still looking for a nice monitor for the case I have to work at home "seriously".

Interesting color combination - what wraps did you use?

As for monitors, I was using a ViewSonic vx2370smh with mine and really enjoyed it - the only reason why I'm not now is that I acquired an iMac, so it became my desk-based computer and the MacBook Air is almost like an iPad. A friend of mine is using the ViewSonic with her MBA 11" and loves it - the IPS panel is made by LG and has a matte texture, but great colors - we also used it with an Apple TV (it's got VGA, HDMI, and DVI inputs) during the NCAA tournament as a second TV. I know picking out a perfect monitor is tough, but thought I'd just throw the suggestion out there since a lot of stores don't seem to carry these.

Due to fact that I worked for 3M I use their wraps. Of course I like the quality, what else shall I say :)

For me the viewsonic sounds good, but interesting how different opinions and reviews are. I looked at the reviews on the new viewsonic vx2452mh. 4/5 stars in the American store. 2,5/5 stars in the German store. I try to find a store and give it a try. But I am more interested in the dell u2515h/u2715h or Asus pb278q. Any other proposals? BTW, this one is from my wife MBA 11" :)

How sturdy is that desk? I've been wanting a new one since the one I built with a table top and 4 legs from Ikea wobbles extremely bad.

Extremely stable since the two legs are very thick. It's nice and sturdy (and very scratch resistant).

I wish it was a little bigger, but I knew the dimensions before I bought it and it's been perfect for my needs.

And, though you can't see it, theres a hook-like shelf along the back behind the desk for wires.

You think it'll fit a 27" iMac with a printer on the desk nicely? I might either get this desk or find one that has a filing cabinet built in it.
