Mac users are so clean. Forgive this but im not sure theres an apple product in the first pic, though theres some ipods somewhere on that desk.

The second is my beloved ][c, I found it under an apple tree on hard rubbish night. Works perfectly and even had "pooyan" in the disk drive , I love that game. Moniter checks out fine , no yellow tinting

two more days till my mbp comes. Im losing my sanity.

A 32GB Flash card eh? Cool mod...where did you get the adapter and how much did you pay for the 32GB CF?

The 32gb CF card (i bought the A-Data brand before the Transcend -- faster model -- was out for purchase) is from newegg.com, and the ata -> cf adapter can be purchased on ebay (this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl..._widget&_trksid=p284.m183&_trkparms=its=S%2BI)

Definitely worth it, though, I'd get the Transcend model if I had it to do over, the write speed on the A-DATA model is really slow, but the read speed is EXTREMELY fast, so the ipod with rockbox on it is super responsive.

EDIT: oops, forgot to give prices; the cf card was like 135$ and the ata->cf adapter was like 10$ shipped from HK

check out http://geektechnique.org/blog/760/part-3-ipod-mini-with-16gb-and-then-some for the site that inspired that mod and for more info on ipod mods in general.

I believe it is made by Lane. There is no sufficient model # on here. Just a lot of extra mumbo jumbo. If you really are serious about it, PM me and I'll take pics of the bottom of the chair and you can search out the #'s and what not or maybe contact the company.

I did try to help you out and search the net for a good 15 mins but to no avail searching for true seating concepts, which is the company name. But they do manufacture many other brands as you will see from their site.
I'll try some local dealers, and check out which Lane chairs they sell.

Thanks for the effort! :)

Did you notice any increase in battery life. I might consider doing this with some old iPods that have dodgy harddrives.

I'm not opening my classic!! but i do have a 4g ipod without a color screen, and that could use an HD replace, the thing still works, but the HD is about to die, its not because its slow, its because when you shake it, you can hear the spindle hitting against the disk:eek:.

Yeah, I saw Mark Hoekstra's article earlier, and it's quite funny because after I saw that you had used a 32GB card, I newegg'd it (because newegg is the cheapest for just about anything.) Prices are really dropping on the cards, soon 64GB will be under $100, then you really can revive those older iPods (ipod mini, 4G, etc.)

Absolutely, I was going to wait for the 64gb drives that samsung and panasonic announced, but i had already sold my 5.5g ipod video and the hd in my 4g was going out, so i decided to just use my 4g.

As far as battery life goes, I need to get a new battery for this one too, I have just been putting it over, if I had a new battery I'm positive hte battery life would increase by at least 1.5-2x

It's definitely a worthwhile mod, and once you put Rockbox on there, you're good to go for any lossless audio format you could want. In addition, you can perform a DIY "iMod" much like the one you pay hundreds of dollars for if you have Red Wine Audio to do it for you.

Hope you all get yours done, it's well worth it.

Before and after

Replaced the Mini with an iMac so now it's apart of the living room setup.
Works well with a 40" LCD. Funny thing, I like the Mini setup so much
I only use the Imac for projects now.

Nice monitor, but I never understand why so many laptop owners close their laptop and just use the external, instead of a sweet dual monitor setup.

Well for me it's because I use hot corners and the upper right corner I use for Expose and using it as an extended monitor it doesn't work until I go into the other screen's corner. I need my expose hot corner! I could rearrange and put my MacBook on the other side, then I would have to put my 360 on the other side and I don't like the idea of that standing up close to my door. I don't want that to get knocked over.

I do like it in extended desktop mode though, it's quite cool. Just more practical (for me) in clamshell.

I know, but I asked just to make sure, it looks very uncomfortable IMO.

eh, alot of people prefer to lounge around rather than crouched over their desk. I would love a mini for my home theater, if I could afford it and had money to burn.

Texas, unfortunately.
Yeah, something's definitely up with that. I never had any issues at all with my mini (1.66 Core Duo) which was running Tiger the whole time I had it. It was very fast and responsive.

I honestly think it's a scheme to get people to upgrade to Leopard.

1. Make a horribly unusable system update, rendering your computer slower then a turtle in molasses in the dead of winter.
2. User of said computer buys Leopard after nothing else works.
3. $$$ for Apple!
