@Crohny I love it! I have the exact same iMac & specs & FCS2, what camera do you use? Im looking for a new one.. what do you think of it?
super nice!

I got a Sony HDR-FX1. I love it. Good quality footage always. Easy to work with. Everyone is going with the HD cams that use memory cards and HD banks, but I rather have tapes to catalog. Makes import time longer and ****, but I dont mind. Love this camera. Thanks for the kind words. I love my set up.

This is what my desk looks like currently. As you can see I'm waiting for a monitor to plug my Xbox 360 into. I should be getting a 22" Samsung tomorrow, I can't wait!

Would you be using that Samsung with your MB at all? I can't decide if I want a monitor for mine. Part of the reason I'd been considering one is because mine looks so lonely on its little Podium Coolpad, hooked up to a mouse. No external keyboard, even. :(

If I could just hear that an external monitor helped non-designers or power users get work done, I'd buy one this instant.

I recently recently received 3 newertech guardian maximux raid 0 drives in 1tb 500 & 250 GB flavors from OWC. They are all hooked by FW800 and have been great so far. I sleep better knowing my 21000+ photos & 16000+ tunes are safe !. Otherwise my old 3G ipod has been resurrected with a new battery. Gotta love that retro ipod with firewire !

Yeah! It's actually pretty funny, because your iPod and G5 are both top-class products form the same era.

It seems like forever since my last upgrade. Hey ho it still does the job though flawlessly. There is always something which comes along which alters my upgrade path (wife's driving lessons this time) i'm sure like many others ! However people are still impressed with the power and snappiness after all these years . The only condolence is when i do finally move up the jump will be quantum ! In my mind the G5 is a classic and still whoops my peers newer setups (pc world)

I've wanted a G5 since I first got into computers. :)

I'm considering getting one somehow, but it'll be tough. And, I don't know what I'd use it for.

One good thing is with each new mac pro that comes out the old G5's become more affordable and more are released onto the market as people upgrade. I would like a quad G5 to use for rendering animations freeing up my work station. Plus the quad was the end of the PPc era and for that alone it is desirable. The G5 is still good for audio and photoshop work plus anything else really i'm sure with enough thought you could justify it !

Where did you get the battery for the ipod / how much / how does it seem so far?

My 3g gets about an hour of charge... and if I turn it off for more than a day, the battery has drained out. Also, if I use firewire to sync, it stalls right away, and if I use USB, the battery drains within 30 seconds... I have to constantly cancel my sync, and then re-start it to keep a charge.

I was thinking of upgrading to a touch, but this might be a good way to hold me over until the 32 gig model comes down in price.

Of course I'm using it for my MacBook too! I'll have the MacBook plugged into the DVI and the 360 hooked up with the VGA.

ipodstop.co.uk yeah it seems great so far came with a tool to open the ipod as well. It seemed a shame to have to replace the entire unit because of the battery.I have some good memories with this old ipod. The red lights are kinda cool too. The new classic only does it for me on the capacity front i have no interest in viewing photos & video on my ipod the touch is a different matter however ;) .I have previously used techtool protogo on the 3G ipod which is handy for maintenance as with firewire the ipod is bootable. I think the move to USB was to keep the windows users happy and encourage the halo effect.

Thanks! I'm not in the UK, but I found a site with a battery for under 30 dollars. I never realized it was so cheap!

I was looking through this thread and I saw your post and started jumping up and down! You have a 3G iPod! I have a 3G 15gb and just like you, a new battery resurrected it. Now it's as good as new. I don't see too many of them around anymore and forget about finding a case for it.
Anyway, nice raid you have there.

I replaced the battery on my 3G 15gb about a year ago. You can find the batteries online at the various retailers. The price is not too expensive and if I can remember around the $30.00 mark. It's a bit nerve racking to do it yourself but not very difficult and takes about 15 min. Well worth it because when you're done, you basically have a brand new iPod. The batteries that are used now to replace the originals are better anyway and hold the charge longer. Go for it, its well worth the time.

srl774 where did you get Leopard wallpaper?

Hey srl774,

Love your setup. Where did you get the Leopard wallpaper image on your desktop?

I've been looking everywhere for a decent Leopard wallpaper and cannot find any.

Much appreciated. :D
