***Been looking at mac setups all night. lol might as well post mine before i rearrange. The first pic is my desk in the dorm room that i share with 2 other guys. The second pic is the Monstrosity that is to the left of my desk. 2 HDTV's, 7.1 Sorround, 2 PS3's, 2 Wii's, 360, PS2. we use our macs everyday to get content onto these guys!!!***

Which college? Those are the exact same desks we have here at Mizzou...

I used that once, but it doesn't have video, so i don't really see the REAL need for it, unless you just use your MB as your hybrid keyboard for your mb and imac.

You are right it doesn't do video but that is because it is designed to be a software KVM switch rather than a screen sharing remote control app. I use the iMac keyboard and mouse to control the Macbook and when the computers are next to each other there is no need for video as the screen is right there and in fact it would be a waste to have video.

As you can see from my setup video is not needed.

I see that, but doesn't it get confusing? like switching from screens, and moving back, and tilting your head. It was hard for me.

Give it a rest, ladies. This is for pictures, and pictures only.

So that I'm not being hypocritical, here's a snap of my 'top.

Do you have a toslink adapter on your MBP or a toslink to mini cable ?
What brand are you using? I am thinking about buying one. Paid 40$ for a Monster THX cable earlier for my DVD Player <-->Z 5500. Looking at Monoprice for cheap cables now :p. Wondering if the quality would be cheap as the price ?!

Confusing? No it is really simple, I want to use the MB swish my mouse over to the left and then it starts control the MB then I want to control my iMac all I have to do is swish my mouse back again. It basically like having an extra screen attached. Titling my head is also not confusing

I understand that moving it to the edge of the screen does the trick, but IMO, it just gets confusing to keep track of things and know where things are and stuff, but thats just me, i played with it a little bit, it prolly takes some getting used to.

I also use Chronosync to keep my computers documents in sync with each other so the folder structure of each is exactly the same. So it does just feel like have an extra screen attached but with the added benefit of actually being a computer so I can run stuff on both computers in parallel and save a bunch of time.

I'm looking at buying that to keep my itunes folder on my imac in sync with another mac.

MacBook Pro 15" 2.16 GHz C2D, 2GB

iPhone 8GB

MacBook Air poster -- Handed out after the Macworld 2008 Keynote for those fortunate enough to get in.

I've got a 20" cinema display, but don't really have the room for it right now. I may hook it up to a Mac Mini and put it in on the other side of this room where my drafting table is.

That desk now holds my TV, and I did that because I like my keyboard and mouse at the same height level.

Really? Shows up pruple to me...

Yep. I have old things that work, so why not use them?

You know, I totally agree with you on that last one. I'm practically kicking myself for getting an Intel Mac; I swore I never would.

To others: Yes, I am the person who uses three CRTs with a G3.

What's wrong with intel Macs that the only reason I got a mac otherwise I would have probably stuck with windows.

Oops! Did I just provoke another discussion about PowerPC macs? lol, I did that on purpose :p:p:p

Now let me show you my other friend's setup:rolleyes:, more "modern" I should say, but he has a 2.8 c2e, 2gb, 500gb WD HD, optiarc optical. His is pretty much the same as mine except i have a matshita optical, and seagate HD, my setup is like 2 pages back, but here's his:

Obviously neither are as good as mine:cool:, lol, jk, and for the record, here is mine:

Meh, I was being irrational. Just liked the idea of alternate platforms using alternate processors.

Typing this on my 1.33GHz 12" iBook G4 with Leopard.

PowerPC FTW!:D:D

All right, to please the mods, I'll put in a Classic iMpathetic Setup™! This one's from December 1, back in my 60-post days.

I actually like the posters and everything. The iMac fits the room.
Congratulations on your new Mac :)

use tags, that's a monstrous pic:o.

Thats a nice creative setup, but I have to say the more attention grabbing thing in this pic is your wall decorations:p, nice

That 20"er looks like a 24"er, seriously, are you sure you got the right imac?....:apple:

EDIT: nvm, mod fixed the pic.

You don't need to tell them, if there is an issue with the post, then just use this button [IMG]http://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/buttons/report.gif, and the mods will fix it or inform the poster, it limits posts and will help to limit arguments caused by conversations gone bad, and plus, if somebody were to post something like "use

Yeah, thanks. Actually they're medal strips nailed on the wall and it's pretty much a HUGE refrigerator space for my wall. It's awesome.

No, i'm pretty sure it's a 20''. it's amazing. haha, now the windows computer in my house is completely neglected.

OK, we've been OT for so long, a mod has had to come in and delete a lot of it.

So let's end this right now. No more discussions of my views on technology. (Pm me if you really want to do that.)

Now, so that this post isn't completely OT, here's a picture of my mini the very night I got it. :)

Sounds like you're a perfect fit for lowendmac.com

Enjoy your mini.

She should email the person who runs it and ask to write for them! That's what I did.
(The mini's broken, isn't it?)
I presume you got your iBook running faster?

Myself, I prefer Intel. One of the best decisions Apple has ever made, IMO.

Meh, a little bit faster. Youtube brings it down, but it's all right otherwise.

I found my PB G4 to be snappier under Leopard, but yea, anything that is graphics heavy like streaming high res videos and such really brings it down.

I played with a MB Air yesterday for a good bit of time as I'm considering replacing my G4 with one, but its just not fast enough. Sure, it wouldnt be my main computer (new iMac and soon to be a Mac Pro) but I still need speed on the go for things like unloading photos (another issue due to the HDD) and editing them in Aperture or PS. The Air got the beach ball opening PS3, and when I went to the new Penryn MBP it opened it in nearly 3 seconds flat without any struggle. MBP for me.
