how do people stand their MacBooks (Pros) so far away from their external monitor? How do you see the internal screen when working on the external?

many probably dont use the laptop screen much. I use a 30 ACD and I don't use my mbp screen at all.

Cheers,

I'm not sure how to get the cabling tidier on the MBP... It seems that the ACD's single cable idea has it's downsides, as I'm stuck as to where to put the power adapter as the cable is really short.

On a side note, can you buy replacement ACD cables anywhere? eBay just seems to have the power adapter (brick).

M.

Many people use the laptop as a secondary monitor for notification.

They put their email clients, IM clients twitter, so on on the laptop so that it is easy to see if they receive anything new. Kinda like a large screen version of growl.

or Documentations for when they are coding. they don't need to look at it all the time, just need a fast view of the docs for a few min at random time.

That is what I do and I still have mine closer than some people. I use both but I have a junk external monitor that is only taller than my PowerBook's built in display

Trusty MacBook and the oldie but goodie Powermac. The iPhone is a bonus.

Redesigned my home setup this week. Went out and bought a Griffin Elevator, an Apple Keyboard, and a Microsoft Arc Mouse to basically make a computer docking system.

Here's a link to pictures of my previous setup along with images of my school theatre setup.

Current Setup

White MacBook (late 2007) | 2.2 GHz | 1 GB RAM | 120 GB Hard Drive | GMA X3100 | Leopard 10.5.6
8 GB iPod touch (1st gen) | 2.2.1
320 GB WD External HD
HP Photoshop 7960 Printer
Griffin Elevator Stand
Apple Wired Keyboard
Microsoft Arc Mouse
LG enV2 (Verizon Wireless)

And if you are going to quote my post, could you please do everybody a favor by deleting the image links, I posted quite a few and it'll just save other people from further work and frustration.

That's some great organization skills there buddy. I would've never thought to put the studio drive inside the elevator stand. Serves double duty...you take advantage of the functional space & you get the Knight Rider look with the WD drive lights at the same time! Thumbs up!

Thanks! I was trying to find a way to clear up desk space, because my desk is tiny. And before if I wanted to do written work while charging my computer or anything then there was practically no room and the lack of space became a real nuisance. And this way I can put the keyboard on top of the hard drive along with the mouse and have enough desk space to do other written work.

thats an awesome case! do you mind if i ask where you got it from/how much?
Speck its the new seethru for the macbook/pro unibody
i got two colors, one in clear and one in aqua. they are $50 but i can give you some coupon codes. :Special25 and Buddy25 both good for 25% off
its worth it!

My video
What are the specs of that MacBook Pro?

Just a 2.4 with 4gb ram, 250gbHD@7200
