I just got the Cinema Display yesterday. It had a dead Magsafe connector, so I returned it for a new one today.

Which leaves me with a 24" LED Cinema Display and 2.0GHz MacBook. I am selling a 20" iMac which I no longer need. I didn't realise how poor the screen quality was on the iMac until I tried the Cinema Display. The colours are so much better, the viewing angle is so much better and it's nice not having the chin too!

neiltc13,

you are moving up to an ips panel vs the tn you had in the imac. hence the quality difference. it's a shame so many others don't know the different panel types and hence buy crappy tn monitors for cheap not realizing what they are really getting.

and nice set up too.

The LED Cenima displays are nice but I wish they came in matte, worked with DVI and were cheaper.
This thread is almost needing part 9 aready. I believe that this is the longest running thread in MacRumors history

Is that dell monitor broken?

The real shame is people who don't need an IPS panel spending $800 on the Cinema Display to check email and browse the internet  Especially after some young twit at the Apple store told them it was "the only display that would work with their new Mac Mini without several expensive adapters"... (I heard this first-hand in my local Apple store, ridiculous.) Needless to say, I had a little conversation with that couple before exiting the store and pointed them to the $29 adapters ;)

What?? My post is only 884... Usually mods step in around post 2000 to close and start a new thread.

In many cases, it is not that people don't know they're getting TN panels when they bought "cheap" monitors. For many people, it is not that they don't want to spend a lot more to buy a IPS panel, they simply cannot afford it. :(

You must understand that not everyone is as rich as you are. :(

What is the point in portrait monitors? I need two documents side by side more than being able to see the whole page. I sometimes even need 3 documents side by side which would take 3 portrait monitors to do while a single 24 inch could do it fine

Not everybody needs an IPS panel. ;)

Cool perspective though.

Well, if this setup is sufficient for you, there is no need to upgrade, right? I tink there are a lot of people woho buy a maxed-to-the-teeth Mac Pro without really needing it. In my opinion your setup has to fit your needs and if you can get your work done with G4s and G5s then why not keep them?
I like your setup was the actual thing I was going to say:)

I love your setup, but quick question, it appears you are some kind of architect. (correct me if I'm wrong.) Anyways, what CAD program(s) do you use?
