from the post right above yours:

Fair enough ... I didn't read the entire thread before posting my reply.

Back to the setups ... Here's my temporary rig while I reformat a pair of iMac G4s (1.25 GHz 17-inch):

I don't know why, but the scale of your setup messes with me a bit. I thought it was a Dell Mini 12", but then I noticed the size of your keyboard. For some reason, that monitor you have and the way it takes up the whole desk makes it look like a 27-30". *Head spins*

hah, that's true! Makes the keyboards look huge.

Tell me about it! Thats one of the reasons that I want a wider desk, that and I want to have my M-Audio keyboard out and a 2nd 22" monitor!

Why do you care what I do anyways?

hehe you can't post a picture of your setup and not expect people to comment/criticize your choices.

What speakers are they anyway?

If I wasn't saving for other things right now, I would love to buy a G4. So awesome!

Logitecg Z-5500's, They retail for like $350.

My netbook cost that much!!
Kind of puts my hand-me-down speakers I got from my brother to shame. Cyber Acoustics CA-5000 (which I find strange that I can't find them with google. Only CA-5001, which isn't the same thing)

Holy crap, all that arguing for a crappy 5.1 surround system on a desk?

*shakes head*

Looks like I'm going to IKEA to buy some stuff on Tuesday, like a desk and stuff, so I'll post some pictures of my setup then. :)

1 TB Western Digital My Studio Edition external HDD connected through Firewire 800
Mac Mini spring 2009 revision 2.0 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, 120 GB HDD
iPhone 3G in 3G Dock running "Nightstand" app.
Apple Wireless bluetooth keyboard
Microsoft 5000 Series Notebook bluetooth mouse

This is not in any way a permanent setup, but rather an interrim one. I plan on updating it during the fall :)

Really like the wallpaper - mind posting a link? Thanks.

I have the same set of Logitech for 2 years now, it's wonderful. It's being hooked up to the Mac mini via optical and TV via coax.

you need some Cabledrop

i got some today

You seem to be good with clean setups and what not (along with many others here)... I'm just wondering how I can go about hiding cables on my MBP. Attached is just a quick photo of what kind of stuff I have plugged in usually: Power cord, Audio cable, DVI to my external monitor, and then the USB connection for the extra USB ports on the back of the laptop stand.

I'm moving into my new dorm room on Wednesday and am excited to get everything set up and I want it to be very clean. So I'd love some suggestions!2

That doesn't include shipping, mind you. Also, I got them a couple of months ago, but kudos for your find :)

is that the IKEA metal rounded desk leather thing? they say that it can mess up wireless signals in IKEA, didnt want to risk it. have you noticed anything?

It sure is. I think it was named "Knös" or something like that. I haven't noticed any interference with wireless signals though. Just my mouse (the MS one) being a little buggy (dropping bluetooth connection randomly), but reading through reviews, that's apperently a common issue with that mouse. Apple's keyboard never disconnects. The BT connection is rock solid and I've been running it (without ever shutting it off) on the same batteries since april without having to change them, while changing the mouse's batteries twice.

Past set up. Found this going through older iPhoto files.

There's a 9500 PM (400MHz G3 Power Logix), Graphite iMac, G4 PM (1GHz Sonnet), Wallstreet G3, Apple and IBM CRTs, and a Canon and Epson printer.

The only things remaining computerwise are the Macally keyboard and mouse. Everything else is gone.

Before and after:

I love before and after pics, especially with this level of improvement.;) I should have one up in a few weeks reducing my AEBS & Airport Express (functioning in a dual band system) and external HDD for wireless back ups to a dual band Time Capsule (hacked for 2TB).:)
