I've seen two or three setups with really nice glass desks/workstations....where did you guys find them? I've scrapped my original plans for moving my iMac into one of the other two rooms in my flat and would like to keep it out here in the main living area. Right now it's on the dining table, which needless to say, is not an optimum solution, but I like having it in this part of my living quarters. A glass desk/workstation would fit in nicely with my overall living room scheme, would show off my pretty machine, and yet would be a heckuva lot more suited to computing than the dining table!

I have a printer set up on a small table nearby but finding room for it at the workstation itself is not a consideration since I have it wirelessly communicating with both the iMac and my PB. The PB has its own little adjustable and moveable table thingy not unlike those used in hospitals, which is great for using it anywhere in the place, although it would be nice to give it a more stable home on the workstation as well.

So, where did you guys find those neat glass desks/workstations?

I got mine from Best Buy I believe, I'm not entirely sure. There or Staples. A friend of mine who also has a really nice glass top desk got his from Ikea.

Old set up - ibook on an icurve - works very well!

arcsbite, very clean setup. :) I love the posters in the background, especially the iCandy one.

Kurt871, very clean setup as well. Just wondering, what Mac is connected your Cinema Display? Is it on your PowerBook or is there another Mac hidden somewhere?

Oh, I see the DVI cable now. :) I wasn't aware you could use an external display with the PowerBook's lid closed. Is this a hack of some kind or does it just work this way? Either way, awesome setup. I love how the PowerBook can be hidden, too.

All the PowerBooks do it. You hook up an external display, plug in a mouse and keyboard and close the lid. Then hit the space bar to wake the computer and it will display to the external screen using the full VRAM rather than splitting it between the two screens.

I think I rearranged my office since the last time. It's a new photo either way.

I saw that a few days ago in the TUAW pool, FrontRow must be nice on that!

I'm a very happy boy now! But I need a nice mousepad, because the glass table gives my mouse a hard time.
Rightnow I use a big brown envelope which I left away for the photo. It's just too ugly!

i am looking for a glass desk like that, where did you get it?

My recently bought iBook G4 + Dell 17" Monitor.

Just wondering, why do you have the monitor so high up? It seems like it would be hard to look at for a long time.

Ah, I see now. That's really cool. Now it makes me want to do it with my PowerBook and Dell 2005FPW. :)

To anyone that has a desk from IKEA, do you own the $99 Jerker that they have on their site? It can be found here. I want to see what it looks like with a computer or two on it. Thanks!

The picture is deceptive; my chair is quite high so the monitor is at a perfect hight - the middle of it is level to my eyes.

I need some guidance fellas. I received my iMac today. It's a 20" 2GB of RAM, 256MB VRAM, 500GB HDD. Sounds all dandy right? But it's not. Every time I try to turn it on now the screen comes on and then goes off. Before it only did it when waking from sleep. What should I do? I haven't received my AppleCare kit from Apple that I ordered yet.

Please help,

Mike

Might be best to start a thread about this elsewhere, this post won't get noticed enough.

Sweet PowerMac! Why did you choose to have the dock anchored too the right? More screen real estate?

How do you get the dock to move to the right, on the bottom?

Call Apple, its brand new. They'll help you troubleshoot.

After unplugging the iMac for about an hour, it will now boot up...I'm not going to even attempt to try to put it to sleep right now, but if the problem happens again I'll leave it unplugged until tomorrow. If it persists, I'll call Apple on monday.
