I'm a graphic designer/website designer/photographer (although only been doing photography for a couple of years)

Its a 30" display and its fantastic, so much better than my old 21" CRTs, although I do miss the extra width I had with the two 21" screens, I'm hoping to add a second display to the set-up at some point.

The box on top is an eSATA box with 1.5TBs in it as backup to the 2TBs in the machine :) its super fast! I decided to go eSATA when I got the Mac Pro rather than tons of firewire/usb Hds and it was the right decision.

I was/am tempted to pt the tower on the floor just because the 24" imac 5 feet to the left of this set-up does look very nice without the tower the 30" screen would look nicer :D But its such a great looking piece of kit that I couldn't face hiding it away!! lol (not yet anyway :D)

Woah that exactly what i want to do you work for a company of self employed? and i wouldnt be complaing at 30" of ACD haha.

and yet is is :)

it's an old, broken down imac g3 blue..

i opened it up, removed the entire content and replaced the old tft screen with a spare 15" LCD flatpanel screen.

Behind it is my 300GB external hardrive

I call it an imaccessory.. an exntenral display for my powerbook, with place for an isight and an extra HD.

how come everyone "needs" so many macs? surely one is enough, or at a stretch one portable and one desktop. I would like a laptop as well as my powermac, but I'm not sure if I can justify spending the money.

nice screen by the way!

Very, *VERY* nice setup! Looks great!

I'd love to see some pics of the 24" iMac, and the whole setup all in one pic.

@ paulinbognor

Sick setup, must've cost a fortune knowing you're based in the UK.

The itunes program is called synergy. Its great because not only does it show the current track with album artwork and rating but it also has other features and submits data to lastfm.

me on lastfm

I work for myself have done for 9 years this year :)

And yes it was expensive the main Mac Pro only worked out about £900 more expensive than the PC I would have bought, but I thought what the hall :D plus I actually got the equipment on a Lease deal from Apple so I'll get the chance to upgrade the equipment as well :)

Here are a few extra shots:

Thanks for the comments I spent a while getting it looking good and hiding the cables.

The tower is about 3 inches from the edge, it was heavy enough to get on the desk it would take a fair whack to get it off (but that's what insurance is for! lol)

I'm probably going to have to use a usb keyboard at some point as the bluetooth one can be a tad slow at times then i could try the powermate out of the keyboard, but the monitor would also work :)

The powermate can do different things for different programs and work as a next/back in browsers of a key combination is PS, mainly it just looks cool though!! lol
