...how much longer should I wait? I'm looking for Robson/Flash technology in a Santa Rosa chipset.

Current setup (don't laugh):
PowerBook G3 (w/SCSI) 400MHz, 40GB HD, 320MB RAM, completely dead battery; OS 10.3.9 (yes, it runs - this came with 8.6 pre-installed) - this is the first Mac I bought in 1999 - still running and my primary computer. The reason I'm waiting to upgrade is that I got burned when I first bought this - 6 weeks later the machine with integrated FireWire came out, and I couldn't get a refund and couldn't sell it (eBay didn't really exist yet).

PowerMac G4 400 MHz (Sawtooth), OS 10.3.9, 10GB, 60GB, and 160GB internal hard drives (it's a real Frankenstein), 1024MB RAM (mismatched speeds), a third-party USB2.0 card that causes intermittent instability, ATA controller card to access full 160GB capacity of internal drive, external FW DVD-RAM+-R/RW....

Should I just wait until Leopard comes out pre-installed? I've waited this long, what's another six months?

Waiting for an operating system is stupid. Just get your new laptop once they are revised on tuesday.

The way I see it, those who can afford to wait should do just that. Those who really need a new system ASAP and would benefit more from having it now as opposed to waiting and buying a newer, faster machine later for the same price... they gotta do what they gotta do I guess.

Personally, I'm waiting 'til Leopard is released to buy a new Mac, but then again, my current primary machine is not quite as dated as yours.

I like your desk, I have one like that that I am refinishing. What is the material you have on top of your desk that is black?

If you can imagine it, most of my ceiling is skylight. Screen is 24, Macbook Pro is fast. Hopefully all of this will be gone and replaced with something 50 inches and 1080P and a Mac Pro in a couple weeks (no desk either, just a coffee table and a lazyboy. TV mounted between where the MBP and Screen are.

That is by far my favorite setup.

Wow, that such a nice place. All I have is the view of the park.

I don't understand why people like to have their monitors to the left or right of the center of their desk...

Would you rather spend thousands on neck injuries or hundreds on a new monitor?

Actaully I would rather just break that Dell monitor off its base, glue it to the ceiling, bring a bed in, and work lying down. But in a 10 hr day, I'm probably only at my desk about an hr anyway, so the bed would be overkill.

If I worked on a bed I would end up falling asleep.
