Fans for $150?

It'd be awesome if Apple wrote you a check for the labor if you fixed your computer yourself.

Yes I agree! I don't know if I could tackle an entire logic board replacement on my own computer, though, it would be pretty fun. The cause of the logic board failures was never determined; both were replaced within two months of each other.

I have to say that some of the photos that were posted in this thread looks pretty "scary" to me. :(

I don't have a picture, as it was about 6 months ago, but I smashed my iPod touch on accident. It fell out of my hand during passing-time, and then somebody in the hallway accidentally kicked it. The glass shattered when it hit the wall.

I had to wait a week or so before I could get to BestBuy, and I had a replacement warranty, so every hour or so I would smash it on the ground to see how much it could take.

Half of the glass missing, volume controls hidden inside a warped metal case, and a home button that didn't go click. The thing still worked though.

My iPhone 3G, dropped it without a case about 4 months ago as I was getting out of my car, onto the ever-so-forgiving asphalt. Asphalt won, but iPhone still works perfectly! No issues whatsoever =)

My iPhone 3GS and myself found ourselves all clothed up in a pool. I tried every advice there was on Google. None worked. Had to pony up about $300 to get it somewhat working again (it would just turn itself off when fully charged and restart again, really annoying).

Yes, it is part of my Top 10 of Bad Decisions of 2010 :)

same thing happened to mine. the gpu went from that nvidia issue which later triggered the motherboard to go. since the motherboard went I have tried apple help twice and both times been rejected -5 respect for apple service and -5 respect for dead pixel policy. not far off switching back to pcs :O (Bites fingernails) anyway that mbp 2007 i bought was a giant waste of 3grand. lasted 13 months (just out of warranty). I treat my things with over care as well. I don't even put it down on a table that has not been cleaned

Was this a unit with the 8600 GT cards in them? Cause i am pretty sure apple are offering recalls to replace the motherboard. I work as a apple tech i have already replaced two in those unitis

This is a 2007 MacBook 2.16GHz C2D that was given to me. The screen decided to stop functioning. This picture was taken after I gutted the top lid assy. I was testing the screen one last time before I bade it farewell. Lol I actually still have the screen. The issue could lie in the LCD cable.... The MacBook is my new desktop! It is hooked up to my external 18.5" Acer X138H display.

Stupid Timbuk2 backpack. Almost fell over the edge of a parking lot structure. Instead it hit a steel wire and bounced off my car then the ground.

Sadly I am just glad that it did not fall two stories and still works fine. I think I would have just thrown in the towel and dropped out of 1L.

I have a titanium G4. The hinges went bad and the screen fell off. Sorry, no pics.

This thread gave me nightmares last night. Literally. I dreamt i smashed my iPad screen...

Luckily though these are my MOST damaged Apple products:

Not too bad...

I've been careful (and lucky) with my Apple stuff, but my girlfriend used to carry her Powerbook around in her giant bag/purse without a protective sleeve. The corners that tended to be pointing downward got pretty banged up over time, but it's otherwise working fine.

I had an iPhone 3gs for almost a year.
I was sitting on my porch in a nice little chair, and this chair was about 6 inches off the ground. So the phone fell out of my hand from about 12-18 inches and landed flat on its glass on to the concrete. I heard the sound of the high pitched glass break and it made me cringe........
The glass had shattered.

I had a screen protector on it though and it held it together for another month until i switched to Sprint for their unlimited plan and sold the iPhone for $250

Looking through all of these pictures made me glad that I never had a damaged Apple device...then...I remembered....

My poor beloved iPod Mini. My first iPod ever. I was in Kuwait at the time and used to take this thing with me everywhere, including the gym. I had it in my pocket and when I was on my back lifting dumbells I reached muscle failure and ended up dropping the dumbells. As I did my music stopped and I saw something fly up from the floor out of the corner of my eye. I sat up and saw that my precious iPod Mini was hit by the dumbell! It had slipped out of my pocket while I was lifting. I was so pissed (mostly at myself) that I stormed out of the gym to the internet cafe to order a new one lol. Sadly it would take roughly three weeks to get anything that was sent from the states.

I'll tell you what though these little things are TOUGH. The dumbell that fell on it was 95 pounds, and this is all the more damage it did. And people say aluminum is weak

The hinges and bottom edge of my TiBook 550 are pretty beat up.

But I've had this thing nearly 10 years. I've been all over the world with this laptop; it's taken many a beating in its time, and still it works great, though I rarely use it anymore.

My iPad took a nasty fall from the top of my car a while back. The sleep/wake button doesn't work, but considering it fell some 5 feet, it could've been a hellavalot worse.
