Is removing the fairings a simply aesthetic choice? It looks kinda cheap/bad IMHO but to each his own.

I don't take offense to this. For me, it was an aesthetic choice but others have done it because they've had a wreck and it's the cheaper way to get back on the road.

IMO, the FZ6 specifically, looks much better without the half-fairing. I rode the bike for 3 years stock and loved it. But the fairing and windscreen caused a lot of turbulent air to hit my helmet right at chin level. So, I decided to go the route of many other FZ6 owners and remove the fairing...and I couldn't have made a better choice. Now the air flow is smooth and hits me right in the chest (when I'm not tucked in). I don't do a lot of highway miles, though, so the wind isn't my biggest priority. I do A LOT of twisties (both locally and at Deal's Gap), so the extra vision I get from not having the fairing blocking my view is great!

Thanks, IDANNY! I'm loving it. I don't know if you were ever a part of FZ6-Forum, but the inspiration was Wavex's bike. The FZ6 is a great bike...I have no idea why Yamaha stopped making it. It's got a very loyal owners group.

Here's my bike around the time I got it next to my Yamaha Raptor. It's a 2003 Yamaha R1.

The R1 is quite different today. It's been rebuilt after a nasty crash. The front end, wheels, swingarm, and mirrors are carbon fiber. This still isn't a fully update-to-date picture. I have a different front fender with fork guards and some other odds and ends on there now.

I used to have a 2003 Kawasaki Z1000. Sold it last year for a 2007 Triumph Daytona. I still miss the zed and the naked style. Kind of wish I had bought a Street Triple instead of the Daytona sometimes though. Also, if you couldn't tell by my sig, I'm a MotoGP fan as well.

Ben Spies is freakin' awesome. I loved that Mancation video Yamaha posted. Colin should go into acting when he retires. He was hilarious.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Wouldn't trade it for any of the new models. Although, I wouldn't mind eventually adding a BMW S1000 RR to the garage sometime.

Of cause not.
Chill - Its a fairly standard procedure for a Motorcyclist to pay out on scooters. No harm intended.
In fact my winter project next year is probably going to be an old C50/C90 Honda Cub.

Maybe you can tape your iPhone to the foot peg and see how much gets scraped off.
Seriously, since you always keep centrifugal and gravitational forces in balance while you do a turn, the acceleration sensors of the phone don't react to the lean at all.

Yeah, Ben isn't the greatest of actors but Colin is awesome. I had the opportunity to meet them both at the Laguna Seca GP because someone on my Triumph forums was working at the Leo Vince tent they were going to be signing autographs at (She gave me the heads up as to when and where). Well I got lost trying to find the freakin tent and by the time I found it, the line was freaking huge. They left before I even got halfway through.

Yeah I liked the "I'm waiting for Mr......" sign. Nice personal touch that. They also cut out the delivery label off of the crate it came in and gave it to me.

The running in period is going to kill me though! 500 miles without exceeding 6k rpm . At 6k rpm it starts to make a delicious noise and at 8k to 12k it all goes a bit mental. Only four hundred miles to go........

Thanks , I love mine. Have had it for about 2 weeks now. Went from a Kawasaki ZZR600 to this and this one is a million times nicer.

A lot of people have some nice bikes on here. I love the CBR's and would ultimately own one of those but I'm not complaining with my gsxr.

I actually have a 2001 Kawasaki ZR7s that I'm selling, been riding that for the past 6 months and is the best blend of ride comfort and sport. But of course the "need for speed" got me so I bought a bit more sporty of a bike! 94 Suzuki GSX-R 750, Kinda of surprised that this is the first on here.
