We have the same system in place at my school and i am wireless. Luckily im on a Mac as well and don't have to worry about it too. Id say if anything they frown upon it unless their IT Department is on the ball and actually searching the network for potential security breaches.

its more of a pain then anything, but whatever it only takes a few seconds...

What about a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse?

neut is correct. With the "Allow BT devices to wake up PB" box checked, the bluetooth keyboard brings the PB back from sleep just fine. I haven't tried waking the PB up by just moving the mouse.

To use it with an external display and the Apple wireless kb and mouse, I just close the lid, attach the DVI cable and tap the keyboard. It wakes up and automatically adjusts the resolution for the external display, in my case to 1680x1050 on the Dell FPW2005 up from the 1024x768 on the 12" PB.

Added bonus: when the PB goes to sleep, it automatically shuts down both wireless keyboard and mouse to save battery life. No need to flip'em over to slide the switches to Off.

FYI- not all BT mice work to wake the computer; my Macally BT mouse does not wake my PB, but this is a good thing ... i don't want my closed PB to be waking up in my backpack with my knowing. :)

It wouldn't wake up in your backpack anyway...unless you have an external monitor and the power cord connected to it in there as well.

PowerBooks are always best when out in their natural habitats...:p

Those iCurves are indeed sweet...If I weren't still in my nomad stages of life, I'd totally be getting one. Question, though, do you ever feel like either of the PBs will fall off? I'm always afraid that if I get one, I'd forget to take the PB off the stand before leaving to go somewhere and come home to the nightmare of my PB on the floor, dead

Thankfully, they have little rubber tracks on the arms that stop the PB's from falling off. The hardest part is getting the 12" lined up correctly on the iCurve as the thing is only the exact same width. They even give you little rubber bits to stop things falling off the end but we never needed to use them.

We are still in the nomad stages of life too; I have hauled mine from USA -> Aruba -> Australia. Now, I have looked at all the computer kit I have accrued over the last 2 years of buying Apple stuff and we decided its time to do a clean out sale. Keyboards, mice, software, Lacie disk, memory, Airport Express, iSights, etc. is all having to go up on eBay soon as we are getting the urge to get those suitcases packed for another adventure. Storage space for all my stuff is getting to be expensive. :(

Don't forget to post all that stuff in the Marketplace too. :D

Nice coster ;)
I keep DVD-R or CD-R disks which did not complete the proper burning to use them as coaster. As it gets dirtier, I use another defective DVD-R or CD-R disk. I have old Symantec CD's which will be serving me as a coaster when I ran out of those CDs.

I've just got my first proper mac, its a powerbook 12in superdrive 1.5ghz. As a ardent windows user its a bit of a shock going to osx but I'm getting used to it. The eye candy alone is excellent.

I'm keeping my windows machine as I need it for other stuff, the mac is for on the move stuff and surfing in the lounge :)

WOW
Where did you get that pic
And can it be true that somebody have been crazy enough to modd it that much or just a PS modded pic

Well seeing as the optical drive looks like it could take a really big disc, I'm gonna say that it's PSed

Thanks for the pics Gordy. How on earth you got your hands on a SGI case, got me beat - you could do some nasty damage with that; but dont its not nice. How sturdy are those IKEA shelfs above your comps in the latest photo, was thinking of getting those.

I wanna see more PowerBook G4 pics. ;)

Bought a week ago from eBay.

867MHz G4 Powerbook
768MB RAM
40GB HD
Radeon 9000 32MB
DVD/CD-RW Combo
Airport
2 x Powersupply
Leather Targus Case

£600 Buy it Now

I used to have an 800MHz eMac and this feels like a massive step up. 1MB of Level 3 cache makes all the difference. Plus it doesn't hum at obscenely large volumes!

Oh and the screen is a 17" Samsung 710MP LCD TV. I use it as an external screen (1280x1024), TV and Xbox Live. The iPods a completely battered 3G 15GB model. Its been opened 5+ times for logic board, Hard Drive and Battery replacements. That little dongle thing is an imported AirPlay FM transmitter for the car. Also I have creature speakers, great value at Paris Expo for £45!

Not much...

Yeah haha, it's funny. But I'm a funny guy.

Anyway usually I use my laptop on my bed while laying down. I don't have a desk in my room so my bed becomes my desk...odd eh?

Well it'll be that way until I clean up my room and go buy a desk haha. Yes this pic was from another thread but, it's relevant...I...think...:p

I bought it via ebay, in fact I had two at one stage as I was going to do a pair of them.

The shelves are very sturdy I put a whole heap of rubbish on them and they dont bend at all.
