It's usually a little more chaotic looking than this.

Accountant for an engineering firm.

At work, I hate bright lights. Testing some new hardware.

When did this turn into another "Post your Mac setup thread?"

Does anyone out there work anywhere beside behind a computer?

That can afford a Mac/Apple products in general? Not terribly likely. :p

More seriously, I think this was always that kind of thread. Just not with any pristine, staged shots.

I'm running windows 7 in my setup. Unfortunately the software tools i need are windows only. Anyway, this is a computer site/forum so why would you expect any but shots of computers?

Join the subway workers forums and you'll see rats and garbage shots.

I wasn't being harsh. Not starting a "fight" either. I understand what you mean, because i have asked similar type questions on this forum. Just stating that most users here are at school or have some type of computer job, or job where a computer is used. I used to ask questions.

Now i just look at the pics and move on. It's easier that way.

I'll post a recent picture of my own setup shortly, but until then here's a photo of two racks of servers that I've recently become responsible for.

I'll gladly explain the functions of these boxes, if anybody actually cares.

Oh, and for the record, the Nyancat is running via telnet.

I'm always interested to know what different things do...I'd like an explanation.

Left rack:
Top two servers (with the blue LCDs) are new Dell boxes, they run ESXi and a bunch of VM's (we're migrating most of our core services to VMs)

The 4 boxes below those are IBM eServers that run services. Two of them are Kerberos KDC's (master and slave), one is DHCP and other essential services, and one used to run services that have since been migrated to ESXi.

Below that is a Dell server that runs Windows Server 2.8k. We don't host our own AD but it does serve group policies and such to our machines (we're a small portion of a much larger network).

The three yellow boxes beneath those are Google GSA's and run Xen VMs. We're working to migrate these all to ESXi but some of these services require an entire system outage to migrate.

The 4 boxes blow that (some of which are disk arrays) are for the AFS file system. We have 8 servers running AFS, several of which are virtual.

Right rack:

Monitor and KVM, self explanatory.

The top non-rack mount Dell server is an AFS box.

Below that is a netapp which started beeping and we eventually unplugged, because we don't really use it or know what it does.

Below that is an IBM B40 that runs backups. Nobody really knows how it works, or even if it's working at all.

And finally, the eServers below that used to do things, but were migrated to ESXi and now do nothing.

Bit of a disaster right now, my desk seems to be getting smaller and smaller.

How is that arm for the iPad? I was looking at it and reviews but people said it damaged their iPads and or fell.

The price point is almost the same as me getting another thunderbolt display so I'm debating :D

It's been totally solid for me, hasn't caused any problems with the iPad either!
