Wow and I thought my firm was cheap!

Typically employees are given a stipend or some sort of compensation for using their own device. At the very least, they can take it off their taxes as a work expense.

I'm always saddled with a work laptop - sometimes they're okay (Thinkpad x220), sometimes they're awful (any variety of Dell 15" monsters)...I'd definitely prefer the option to use my own Macbook Pro or Windows Ultrabook.

Lol. I have a 15" Dell laptop. I hardly ever use it though. I believe the tracker pad uses some sort of mind control. Doesn't matter what I do with my finger it doesn't control the curser.

When did you get a black book??

As far as I can remember, it haas been a couple of years already that i am using that BlackBook. I bought it from one of the forum members here thru the marketplace, I cannot remember it now.

Prior to the macbook, I used to lug around 2 laptops. Laptop #1 is a Panasonic toughbook on which I run windows based softwares for the equipments that I install and service and the other is my 15" PowerBook HR/DLSD for my personal consumption. I got tired of always carrying two notebooks on my handcarry luggage and the trouble of always opening it up for TSA at the airports, that is why I have scouted around for a practical solution. And that is buying a decently priced macbook and install parallels. I happen to chance upon a decent BlackBook on the Marketplace, and there I have it, its still strong and stable running Lion. But currently, with present work, there is no need for windows based-software on my notebook thus, I have ditched Parallels completely. I have swapped out the spinner drive for an Intel SSD, I am afraid that the spinner will not last long with the way I travel and handle my notebook.

The PowerBook is still being used up to this day, actually I am posting using it.

Thinking of going with something like this, but the airmotiv 4s look like they're about to eat my MBP. Does my provisional setup strike you as ridiculous? I could try to find narrower speakers (or buy a wider desk), but these are highly regarded.

No desk. This is my life now out on the road or wandering different places, like coffeeshop, office, library. I miss having a desk.
