I have a Leatherman Surge (I used to work as a set dresser), a Leatherman Juice S2 (in orange) (it's my girlfriend's, but it's so nice I take it with me more than the surge), a couple of diving knives (I dive), two throwing knives (just for kicks, one day I thought it would be fun to learn how to throw knives), and a machete I got in French Polynesia (to open coconuts, mostly. I'd have died without it). I think that's about it.

Edit: added why I have them.

It's a little hard to see, but we recently added a room to our house. I finally have room to display my sword. It's a battle-ready Scottish Claymore. A wedding gift from my brother and best friend. :)

in the part of the country i live in,
almost all the men, and quite a few women carry knives
if they leave home and have left it, it's like a cell phone, turn around and get it
they work hard and use their knives
they also carry several different types of guns
it has nothing to do with weaponry

now me, i get into the cool stuff, but don't own any

what do you practice?

Western Martial Arts aka Swordfighting. not the SCA dweebs.

with the cutting sword I cut things, like bottles, rolled mats, foam stick, sides of pigs to demostrate effects.

the balance is different on practice swords versus live steel so I practice with the real thing to be able to use effectively.

I also have a couple wall hanger sword in the Conan styel to demo how the physics of a hunk of metal like that will get one hurt and killed.

When I go camping I always bring my trusty old EKA Swede 60. Mine's orange.

Like I said earlier, I only use this for when I go up on the mountains. Never used as a weapon against people, never used to scare people. Keep meaning to buy my own too. Just for them unfriendly wildcats and for basic survival out in the wildnerness.

I've always had a thing for knives and weapons in general. Most of them are cheapos.
The Buck above the axe is what I carry, and up until cutting insulation and carpet at work had stayed pretty sharp. The Ka Bar is my latest, and probably most expensive.

Maybe it's part of growing up in a rural area, but we've always had guns and we always carry a knife. Now that I'm in college it goes with me everywhere, second nature, just like my wallet or phone or keys.

No pics of my wallhangers and I'm feeling lazy.:p
I'll have to get some pics of them and some of my shields and stuff that I've made. I have a couple board bows that I've started and haven't finished. I was going to a while back but couldn't find my Dacron for the string.:(
