I wasn't going to post, but I saw a couple good tattoos in this thread, so I had to share. This is my first piece and was done in three sittings. Took about 9 hours total. Started it last year, finished back in March. Concept by me, artwork by my artist. Its absolutely phenomenal.

That's a kraken tat right there......I'm sorry, it's Punday today :) Great tat though.

This saturday is a tattoo gathering called Man Day at my local tattoo shop. I am so excited to get my next tattoo.

^ That kraken is awesome!

My first one..

It's the band Anti-Flag's logo. They are a huge influence on me and literally changed my life when I was in the 5th grade so, I decided I owed them a little something.

My second...

A jukebox. I love music and I love that era of time (late 40's, and the 50's) when it was more simple and timeless.

I've got plans to put a lot more on my legs and fill up my arms.

Sorry for the really crappy quality... These are the only two tattoos I have.

I kinda like Harry Potter-- and LOTR. :p

beautiful raven wings

This is my amazing tattoo of raven wings. It was created by the tattoo artist Bald Bill Henshaw at Yankee Tattoo in Burlington, VT......I just want to get this out there for others to see what an amazing piece of art this is! His talent is evident in the masterful application of this creation. The photos do not do this masterpiece justice! I am honored to bear these wings into the world!

Whoa, how long did that take?

...and can we have the front view of that picture ;)

Seriously, amazing tat though.

I went and had a chat with the girl who did my recent coverup today about getting some more flowers and waves to go with it. Booked in for next Saturday so i'll post some more pics then.

the tattoo took over 26 hours of ink time...and yes it did hurt at times...but not any longer;)

You are not the first person to ask for that view...but right now that view is only for the tattoo artist whom i am dating:rolleyes:...looking forward to seeing your coverup work...

Very intricate Raven. What is on your neck? I can't tell from the pictures because your hair is covering it? Is the neck part of the wings or was it a separate piece?

I just designed this today actually...but I've wanted this for a very long time.

I've lost a lot of people recently, and my grandfather is dying of stage 4 cancer now too. I've been learning to cherish the moments we're given.
(So this has a LOT of meaning...)

I want it to go on my wrist, but I have a very small area to work with... 2"

What do you think?

It's kinda nice, but in my opinion the little bird shouldn't touch the first "L". So move it just a little bit to the right, then it's perfect:)

My lord, that's beautiful!

I think Nicolecat's tattoo is perfect just the way it is! Tattoos are always nicer, if they have a meaning or a story behind them. And im sorry for your loss, Nicolecat. *hug*

2" may not be enough room to fit your design. You may lose some detail.

How about stacking the words, so it would look like:

Live
Laugh
Love

That way, the lettering can be larger and also the bird can be a little larger so it wouldn't end up looking like a black blob. Also, the words can face you so you can remind yourself of this mantra.

Yeah, I am a little worried about loosing the detail in the bird...but I'd rather change the tattoo location than stack the words. If it stays on my wrist, I would like to be able to cover it with a watch or bracelet for corporate working reasons. I might consider moving it to my foot just above where the flip flop strap would sit. (But I've heard some tattoo artists refuse to do tattoos here because it sees more wear with socks and shoes, and could be detrimental to their artwork.)

I'm a big wuss when it comes to pain...and from what I understand these are both really painful locations. So, I'm still not sure as to placement...I just know I want it to be different.

I would definitely have the words face me, due to the personal meaning. (although, on the foot that might not look right) :)

I kind of like how the bird's wing breaks the line of the "L" or "touches" it...you don't live without touching things or people. (I guess this is going a little far with meaning...but you get the idea).

I can relate- I don't have any tattoos below the t-shirt line on my arm because they just wouldn't be viewed as acceptable at work. I like to wear a polo shirt or roll up my sleeves if I can.

A friend of mine just got a full sleeve, and now he's doomed himself to wearing long sleeve shirts all day at work.

Don't get in on your foot. IMO it's not a great place for a tattoo.

How about on the inside of your bicep (on your arm just below your armpit)? That way you can see it, others may be able to see it if you let them, and it doesn't show very easily if you decide to take your jacket off at work.

I'm a big wuss when it comes to pain...and from what I understand these are both really painful locations. So, I'm still not sure as to placement...I just know I want it to be different.

My advice would be to print it out in different sizes, cut it out, and place it in different places until you find a place that works. That's what I've always done.

That's what I figured. Yet another reason not to get it on your foot! :D
