I had this for a week and hated it so much I took it back. That and the heatsink came loose.... I took it back and after a long decision. I decided what the hell it was time to try a mac. So glad I did.

That sucks the dell didn't work out. But at least you got a Mac :)

I had a Dell Vostro 200, basically same as yours but all black. Great cheapo gaming machine. Im sad to let it go.. but I don't even game so keeping that computer in my room was just collecting dust.

Do you find that case a little cramped to work in?

*got home from trying to manage cables in an NZXT Lexa with a 4-drive RAID, SLI, and water cooling*

Not at all since the drive bays slide right out. Only thing is the PSU cables cannot be too short or you'll have problems making it look neat and tidy.

:) That zalman is ancient. I picked it up sometime in 2003 when I was building my P4 3Ghz computer. It was way overkill for that time. Since I picked up the quad core, I wanted to see how this cooler would do on the new four core. Went and got a socket 775 adapter for the cooler for $10 (zalman sells them) and you know what, its very good. I'd say it cools a tad better than the stock intel cooler, a little quieter and it mounts from the rear so no danger of plastic clips popping off (I hate the stock intel cooler).

The Motherboard is a bit older now too. Its a P5WDG2-WS Professional based on the 975X chipset. I got this board because it had some PCI-X slots for my SCSI adapter.

As for the SCSI stuff. My controller is only ultra 160 but the drives are ultra 320. I got about 103 megs/sec at the begining of the drive and about 70 at the end. It averages out in the 80's somewhere. The nice thing is the access time which is only 5.9ms. That an the intelligence with SCSI. I find that I can slam the system really hard and it doesnt really suffer like my other SATA systems do.

^^ nice! hows that Zalman fan compared to the 90mm vertical one? what ASUS mobo is that, P5N…? also whats SCSI, is it faster than SATA 3 Gb/s?

That consoles me.... my first and only build is in a case 25" tall so I'm kinda scared of mid towers. :p

Hah, when I was 14 I built a full system into a 13" tall case. Full ATX motherboard, huge Thermaltake Silent Tower heatsink (ducted to 120mm fans rather than 92mm), FX5900XT with Arctic Silencer, 2x optical drives, 2x hard drives in removable 5.25" cradles & another hard drive on top of that. Fitting it all in was quite some challenge :) Pity I don't have it any more, transferred it into a larger case when the PSU blew.

Know what?

I almost stabbed a cooling tube on the Lexa I was working on with a Phillips head screwdriver.

My friend: "What was that?"
Me: "Oh, um, that's the twin cooling gigs firing up." :p

Here is my Q6600 box with 8GB RAM, 8800GT and 4 drives (2x SCSI and 2x SATA). Running Vista64.

That's one of the best looking cases I've ever seen. I always buy the cheapo $25 tin cans because most of the expensive ones don't look that good to me. Only wish the ports were centered, I like things symmetrical, which you can never find either.

I would like to build a case like a mac pro, just need to figure out how to do the holes. One mess up drilling and it's all messed up. Maybe a pattern, like a stencil that you can line up.

I think I like the brushed better. Not to mention fingerprints.
Don't know about the little housing for the filter on top... why can't they make it flat.
I think it's designed to reflect the fan noise backwards, rather than upwards/forwards towards you.

I posted my setup a couple of posts before.. I had a 19'' Dell LCD with KRK RP-5 Studio Monitors. Recently cleared the KRKs in favor of something smaller and cooler (the KRKs are serious room warmers). Here's my newer setup (still Mac less.. still saving up :) )

My setup is pretty much everything that I wanted it to be.. just waiting to pounce on that MBP!

Some nice Antec cases. Very interesting that they have moved the power supplies. Last time I built a PC (4 years ago maybe?) it was at the top. I always through it was cramped with the location. Based on some pictures above it looks like that would greatly improve the air flow.
