Wow, I saw that the first week it was released in the theaters.

I did too. I remember my mouth full of Ju Ju Fruits during the Heaven/Hell sequence with Dr. Reinhardt.

The Prometheus Class starship. It's three ships for the price of one!

Planet Express Ship, of course...

SR-71 Blackbird

Some of your guys ships look cool, but I don't want anything that doesn't have a holodeck and food replicators. :D

*Voyager snip*

Damn, I found this thread too late to claim any of the good ones. Soooo...I'll just clunk you all over the head and take your ships somewhere far far away and make my own armada.

Where's the EV Nova love? Much as I would love a Polaris Raven, the Starbridge almost always did it for me (especially with the Pirate Mod Starbridge add-on).

No one likes the Phoenix from Battle of the Planets?

http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/8198/phoenixhy0.jpg

Oh god help me. I'm old enough to remember that show as: G-Force!
What on Earth was up with that Cheops character, was he seriously mentally impaired/challenged (ie retarded)???!!

My vote .... Star Blazers (the show ran for 2yrs; watched it when i was 7, long before Macross/Robotech debuted (which I still think the majority of that series rocks).

Searching for a distant star,
heading off to Iscandar,
Leaving all we left behind,
who knows what dangers we'll find,
We must be strong & brave,
Our home we got to save,
If we don't in just 1 year,
Mother Earth will dis-appear!
Call out the fire & smoke,
we will never give up hope,
If we can win the Earth will survive,
we'll keep peace alive with our, Star Blazers!

Strange that last lyric.

If any of you recall the cartoons of the late 70's early '80's era would recognize the common artistic drawings of characters:
Jason from G-Force, Grandizer, etc all had basically the same face and hair-do.

the common theme of the cannon in the front nose of the ship...

There was a French-Canadian show VERY similar to this but I cannot recall its name - the commander or main character was a pirate? Anyone know?

oh and the other common theme of the captain of the ships always having high collars and beards and a deep voice (even Robotech had this).

Then again my other choice was the Last Starfighter ... with Death Blossom installed! That was the shiznit!

Actually scratch ALL the above!

I'll take Gold Boa Goldman's YF-21 from Macross Plus!
that movie mini-series incidentally had a very wicked soundtrack! I actually liked this show better than the Zentreadi, Robotech Masters, and Invid shows before it.

I present the YF-21 with Vector Engine Thrusters (introduced 3yrs before the FA-21 fighter with 2 vector engines; a common theme for Macross mecha vs USA air-force technology).

Seems to be some older people posting here. I remember G-Force and the Yamato and all the others. Am I getting that old now?

They did that to make his new lines fit with the animation. The original was a far more adult cartoon in Japanese called Gatchaman, but they rewrote the scripts for the American and British markets. Gatchaman was all set on Earth, which is why all the planets the Phoenix visited in BoTP/G-Force looked alike :)

Oh, and those bits with the R2D2 type robot were added later, hence the occasional bit of really crappy animation.
